You asked us, "Why do we love junk food?"

A lot of money, strategy and effort goes into designing junk food.

The goal is to make it cheap, convenient and -- despite having little to no nutritional value -- to keep you wanting more.

It's typically high in things like salt, sugar and fat, which trigger pleasure centers in our brains, making us feel oh-so-yummy-good and encouraging us to keep eating.

See, our brains are relatively big and they require a lot of energy to do their thing. So we evolved to love high-energy food.

Beyond the super high calorie count, junk food makers have a million tricks up their sleeves when it comes to making their products irresistible.

Like the melt-in-your-mouth quality that tricks us. We think the calories have magically floated away.

Or boosting flavor just short of what's called, "sensory specific satiety."  It is flavor that's so big, it overwhelms your brain and you end up not wanting anymore.

So despite knowing it's not good for us -- eating it is linked with things like obesity, diabetes, heart disease and even cancer -- junk food can be really hard to resist.

Food for thought, for sure.

It takes a lot of time for people to make candy because they want people to like it so they will keep buying more. "It's typically high in things like salt, sugar and fat, which trigger pleasure centers in our brains"
This is interesting because its cool to see why we love candy so much. This did not surprise me because i'm sure that lots of people like candy.

It takes a lot of time and money to design fast food because you have to pay for extra exteriors and the food itself isn't free and to make is s fast as it needs to be costs money and time. I knew fast food was cheap and fake but this really described to me the truth. I have to admit though fast food is really good.

It takes a lot of time and money to design a fast food because the goal is to keep it cheap and fast because they want us to have more and more everyday. It take time because they are trying to give us pleasure in our brains by using salt, sugar and fat which makes it taste really good and tricks us to think there is low calories in them.

A lot of thought out ideas goes into fast food. They need to have good advertising so people will be attracted to the store, and they also need to taste good. Though I almost never eat fast food I think that most places do a good job because the food is usually very good.

It takes a lot of time and money is used to design junk food because it is suposed to be something that keeps you hooked on that one thing and keep you eating that one thing and wanting it so they make a lot of money. This story was interesting because I personally love junk food and it is cool to find out the thought process behind it. This story was surprising because I had know idea it took a lot of money to make something so cheap.

It takes a long time because a lot of money, strategy and effort goes into designing junk food. They make it cheap, convenient and despite having little to no nutritional value to keep you wanting more. I think this is a good summed definition for why people like junk food.

It takes a lot of time to make it because they want something that will taste great, but make sure its not overfilled with flavors that are cheap to make. They also want to make it where you eat lots of it and want more so it takes longer to do that.

Because they make more profit when people buy the junk food that is fating so more people like the more people buy and then the one who made the food make big money.
This is not good because people die from eating junk food and get deasiese.
