A Utah man got a surprise when he stopped to pull a large orange bag off the highway. He feared that it would become a traffic hazard.

The Deseret News newspaper reports the 75-pound bag tumbled out of a truck driving in front of Dan Kennedy on Interstate 80. When he looked inside, he found stacks of cash.

"I thought it was going to be light. I reached down to grab it and I couldn't move it," Kennedy said.

The sack was approximately 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide. It was filled with smaller bags packed with currency including $50 and $100 bills. Kennedy estimated each of the small bags contained $22,000.

It was unclear how much money the entire bag contained.

Kennedy tried but failed to chase down the Brink's armored truck that had lost the bag. He then drove the money to his work parking lot and called the police.

The three Utah Highway Patrol troopers were "stunned" at the bag of money, Kennedy said.

"Never in all my years have I heard of a bag of money bouncing out of the back of an armored truck," said trooper Brady Zaugg. "That's something that happens in the spy movies."

Kennedy said it never occurred to him to do anything other than turn in the money.

"He hadn't disturbed it at all. So he obviously did the right thing for the right reason," said Zaugg, who said Kennedy reported his find to the police immediately.

Brink's employees told police they drove over a bad bump on a highway off-ramp but didn't notice the back latch opening or the bag falling out.

Kennedy said he hasn't heard anything about a reward for his good deed, but he was still excited by the unusual discovery.

"I was just jazzed all day long," he said.

Critical thinking challenge: Why was the bag orange?

Lately, a man in Utah was driving down a highway when he saw a orange bag fall out of an armoured truck. He stopped to pick it up, only to find that it was a large bag of money containing thousands of dollars. He did the right thing and took it to the authorities so the bag of money could be restored. This article was a bit small, and could have mentioned what the armoured truck was doing with the money ( I am guessing that it was being taken to a bank).

All Dan Kennedy, an average Utah man, wanted to do was move what he believed to be a safety hazard off of the highway. Instead, he was faced with the challenge of moving an orange, seventy-five pound bag filled with money. Inside the bag were other, smaller bags filled with fifties and hundreds. He estimated that each bag contained about 22,000 dollars, but how much money there was all together may never be known. According to Kennedy, he had intended from the start to return it to the company that owned the truck that lost the money. He is still awaiting a reward for his deed.

If I found a bag filled with money or other valuable material, I would probably have no idea what to do with it. Since it would be the right thing to do, I would return the money.

A man in Utah found a strange orange bag in the middle of Interstate 80 when he tried to pick it up in fear of it being a traffic hazard. Dan Kennedy looked in the bag to see that there was many $100 and $50 bills inside totaling up to about $22,000! He called the police and found out it had fallen out of an armored truck. The truck driver employees claimed that they went over a bump but didn't think anything fell out. I think that it is really interesting that an armored truck would carelessly drop all that money! Dan did the right thing by returning the money and I think he should be rewarded because he saved the bank a lot of money.

Its crazy how he finds a bunch of cash in this giant bag and he doesn't decide to keep it. I would keep it myself because you would never know if you can get another chance like that again.

I think that it was very kind of that man to try and return the money. Many people would take the money and not tell anyone about it.. I'm not sure why the bag was orange, maybe for that purpose. So,that if it gets lost someone will spot it and hopefully return it.

I think that it was good that he didn't take the money and he gave it to the police. He could have taken the money, didn't tell the police, and would have become rich. If I found a big bag of money on the side of the road, I would take it to the police as well, as long as I get a share of the money for my reward. That's what I would do.

he must be a very kind and respectful man to return that large amount of money. most people would probably just secretly keep it for themselves instead of giving it back.

If i were to come upon this bag of money i would have kept it. First of all because most people would claim it is there but it would not be and second of all ITS FREE MONEY!!!!!!!!! Now since it was from an armored truck i would have returned it with the exception with one or two bags because ITS FREE MONEY!!!!!!

This is very interesting. Usually a person when finding a bag of money would keep it. In most situations I think any normal human would think of keeping it and then possibly regretting it later. Kennedy made a very honest and difficult decision to turn the money in. He was lucky that he knew where it fell out of. Brink also is lucky that Kennedy picked up that money. Kennedy is a very honest human being who should definitely be getting a reward.

I disagree, only because the money came from an armored truck. If he found it on a side street that would be a different story. Then i would assume someone has their life savings in that bag. It is like those stories on the news with the people hiding money in their couch and selling the couch forgetting about the money. If i found that bag on the side of the highway i would most likely keep it or wait for a reward.
