Everybody's favorite fictional crime-fighting cyborg has made an appearance at a Detroit Tigers game.

RoboCop threw out the first pitch at Comerica Park on Tuesday evening as the Tigers hosted the Toronto Blue Jays. An announcement said RoboCop's motorcycle was on display at the stadium and the first 10,000 fans were getting a RoboCop cheer card after getting inside.

It's part of "RoboCop Day" in honor of the DVD release of this year's "RoboCop" remake.

An announcement was to be made Tuesday about a RoboCop statue that's expected to be installed in Detroit this year, but that event and a police meet-and-greet were cancelled.

A movement for the statue started in 2011 after a social networking campaign.

The 1980s science fiction movie was set in a futuristic and crime-ridden Detroit.

People would want a statue of RoboCop because it was a very popular movie back in the 80's that was suppose to take place in Detroit.

Detroit should be happy that they can finally honor RoboCop. The movie, since it was based in Detroit, should be celebrated in Detroit, and making a statue for the movie seems a bit extreme, but pretty awesome! Letting RoboCop throw the first pitch of the game must've been pretty amazing.

RoboCop, great job striking out the first pitch. Well, since you are a superhuman/cyborg, your strength must be unquestionable. What is a questionable idea, is if your helmet has UV-blocking technology. Knowing you're technologically advanced, it would be disappointing if it weren't. Humor is being taught here; hope you can tell.

Important or well known people throw the first pitch at baseball games. Having a favorite fictional character there throwing the first pitch was probably very thrilling. The fact that the police meet-and-greet and the RoboCop statue was cancelled.

I think that them doing this is cool because its a good way of promoting their own movie and stuff. It's very creative and different then most.

People in Detroit want to see Robocop because it was some thing that people grew up to. They want to remember their childhood with Robocop. This is something that they want to share with their children.

This is very cool for the people in Detroit. How did they make Robocop like that in real life this is phenomenal. The people want a Robocop statue because the movie was taking in their home town.

I think that it would be cool to have a Robocop come and pitch for you, but do you really want somebody that is famous come in their movie outfit and start pitching. I think that having people do that is really bad and wired. I think that having people and rich people come and do something for you is wrong because they can just walk away from you game and go home.

      Rebuttal
RoboCop is not pitching for the whole game Brandon. It is just the first pitch. What is so bad about a movie star doing the first pitch. Wouldn't you like it if Jackie Chan came and pitched your baseball game. Imagine RoboCop was your favorite movie star. Wouldn't you like him.
