You asked us, how does night vision technology work?

Our eyes allow us to see a wide range of lights. When the sun goes down, our ability to make out stuff drops off quickly. Colors fade and things get fuzzy, till our eyes become useless and we're what goes bump in the night.

Cue night vision technology.

There are two very cool types. The first is thermal imaging. It registers on the upper portion of the infrared light spectrum. It is invisible to humans. This kind of light is emitted as heat by things like warm bodies, recently driven cars and even some chemicals.

Thermal imaging devices can see through the fog, smoke and dust.

Type number two amplifies available light from the visible spectrum as well as some infrared light. It makes things look brighter than they appear to the naked eye.

Most night vision equipment uses this imaging enhancement technology. However it's useless if it's pitch black.

Originally developed to spot enemy targets, night vision is now used for all kinds of things. It's used in things from military gear to baby monitors. Because you know, you've got to get the upper hand on these babies.

The night vision technology had been able to develop that would be able to help people see through dark things which people would be able to look through the dark and spy on enemies if they were in the military. The two types of night vision technology is thermal imaging and amplifies available light to the spectrum which can be useful when it is dark outside but not in pitch black places. The night vision that uses thermal imaging can be useful to look at warm-bodies, already used car, and chemicals which can be seen through air that is hard to look through. The night vision technology that amplifies available light to the spectrum can be used during night time missions when someone's in the military but is useless if it is used in the dark.
Critical Thinking Question: Why would baby monitors use military technology?
Answer: I know that baby monitors use military technology because the parents that can't see well in the dark would have to up close night vision camera and check on their babies if they are sleeping or not.

I think its amazing things we have invented night vision is definitely one of the coolest it can help the government see in intense moments to helping see babies in there sleep to make sure they are OK night vision is really cool.

Baby monitors would use military technology because of the night vision camera inside the baby monitor. Also the voice recorder thing that's inside of it too.

As a baby your sense of curiosity is very high. This makes babies try to get out of their cribs. These monitors alert the parents of what the baby is doing. 4/21/16

Baby monitors use the night vision so parents can see if their child is awake or not. My sister uses it for her twins when it gets closer to night time so she can see them.

Well they might use military technology because they need to have top notch hearing. Also military could use them to spy on the enemy because they wouldn't think much of one just sitting there. I think that is why baby monitors would have military technology.

Baby monitors use night vision. This is because you have to stay on top of the baby! That is why.

Baby monitors use military technology because it protects the babies. I think it is interesting that babies can be protected by military technology. I like the fact that military technology is used not just in the military.

So they can see babies in the middle of the night. And we could make sure that they is nothing else in the room. Also it may let you here them better.

I say that they would use that technology because it is so good at what it does best, spy on things. Also it would love to have one of these so I can use it for all kinds of things.
