You asked us, "How do people get phobias?"

Roughly 10% of people will develop a phobia.

They might be afraid of spiders, flying or clowns. Whatever it is they're afraid of that fear isn't a normal one.

A phobia is an irrational or over-the-top response to a perceived danger. It's a response that causes people to avoid their object-of-fear like the plague.

There are three main types.

Simple phobias are a fear of something specific. These might include things like dentists or dogs. This kind tends to develop in childhood and will often go away over time.

Then there are two more deeply-rooted and disabling "complex phobias" that tend to start during the teen years or early adulthood. The first is social phobia.  It's a fear of being judged or embarrassed. The second is agoraphobia which is a fear of places that make you feel trapped.

It's likely that genetics have a hand in phobias.

These unwarranted fears tend to run in families. There's evidence that they can be inherited biologically, at least in mice.

But life experiences play a role, too.

Phobias can develop from a scary or stressful experience. They can even come from something you just witnessed or heard about.

Unfortunately, knowing what caused your phobia doesn't cure you of it.

What might help though is exposure therapy. It's where patients gradually increase contact with their phobia and learn to overcome their fear.

Now, I know what is a phobias is. I think I don't have phobias only when I watch something scary that is it. But, Christians don't be afraid because God is always with us. I think ghost are real, so my phobias are ghost. My mom says to me that I watch to much movies. I hope I could overcome my phobia. This video clip was really scary at the end. I wish tween could make more video clips. Anyways, why are people afraid of dogs? They are adorable than cats...(just telling you the fact)

Phobias might tend to run in families because genetics can pass down fears and similar thoughts as traits. The article states that phobias are passed down from genetics, shown from a study on mice. However, there is not proof that this is the same for humans as well. I do believe that phobias may sometimes be passed down from other family members, but not all the time. I don't have a good idea on this though, because I don't have any phobias that stand out to me that I could relate to other family members.

Phobias may tend to run in families because, as the article said, they can be inherited biologically. The article also explains that this can happen in mice as well. This intrigues me because I have my own anxiety as well, and I struggle to control it.

Phonies may tend to run in famliyes because when you were little your parents or family members my express a strange phonia that once you relize it you also my find scary. The ninth paragraph states "These unwarranted fears tend to run in families. There's evidence that they can be inherited biologically, at least in mice." Which proves there is scientific evidence about fears running in famlies. I have my own phodias that I find completely terrifying when some people express no shock or fear towards them, for example I hate riding in elevators and yet most people ride in them every day
