An eastern black rhinoceros was born in a Czech zoo. Experts say it is a small but important step in efforts to save the animals from extinction.

Only a few hundred remain in African reserves. There they are protected from poachers. Some 140 are in European zoos.

The rhino was born on Oct. 2 in the Dvur Kralove Zoo. It boasts the greatest number of the animals in Europe.

Curator Jan Zdarek says the calf has been in good shape and will stay with her mother. Her mother’s name is Etosha. She will stay with her for at least a couple of years.

After that, she might join four others from the zoo. They were taken to their native habitat in Africa.

Zdarek says it is still not clear whether efforts to save the black rhinos will be successful.

According to the article, "Czech Zoo Cheers Birth of Endangered Eastern Black Rhino", the rhino was in Czech Republic because it was born in the zoo. It will remain in the zoo for a couple of years to be with its mother. After that she will join four others from the zoo. This is all efforts to help save the animals from extinction.

I think the rhino is in Czech Republic because, they are endangered so, they want these rhinos to breed. I think this article was not very long, but very informational. It puts a lot of information in one short article. I think this is a good thing because, I do not get bored of it, but I get information out of it. Overall, I think this is a pretty well-done article.

"why is a rhino in the Czech Republic?" well the reason why is that it is endangered and needs to be protected.Eventually they might be able to go to there habitat in Africa. I think rhinos are cool and amazing.

They are there because they where born there.Another reason is that there is only a few hundred remain in the African reserves. And is they are getting killed be porters for there rhino horns. Also they are only a few steps away from being extinct. It was one of the greatest number of the animals in Europe. But now there is only 140 left in there zoos.
