The ceremonial first pitch is a tradition in baseball.

Only 50 Cent, the rap star, did not just miss his target. He was way, way wide with his pitch. It happened Tuesday night before the Pittsburgh Pirates played the New York Mets.

Standing on the pitcher's mound, 50 Cent wound up for his left-handed toss. It sailed way wide of Mets catcher Anthony Recker. The ball bounced to the backstop and nearly nicked a cameraman.

It missed home plate by such a wide margin that replays of it might be shown for years.

50 Cent seemed to get a kick out of it. He smiled.

The rapper wore a Mets jersey with No. 50. His real name is Curtis Jackson III. He will play a concert after a Mets game at Citi Field on June 14.

Critical thinking challenge: Why do celebrities make a ceremonial first pitch at baseball games? How do teams benefit from these pitches? Dont they merely delay the start of the game?

Even though he threw an awful pitch, doesn't mean he's bad at baseball. It just means he got a bad pitch. No to mention he's a succeeding rapper which will take him far wether he threw a good or bad pitch.

Even though he didn't do a good pitch that doesn't mean he is bad a baseball, sometimes we have those days were we mess up at stuff.

I think that it is a good thing for a celebrity to throw a first pitch of a baseball game. It can be be funny but it can also be for different reasons. It gives celebrities more fans other than all the music fans. it can also bring in more fans to watch the baseball games.

Depending on how much he missed by it might nit be his fault. He might not be left handed. If so it was his fault. he could have just pitched right handed. This was not funny because he could have hurt the cameraman. A least no one got hurt.

They do it because it's a longstanding ritual of American baseball in which a guest of honor throws a ball to mark the end of pregame festivities and the start of the game. Teams benefit from these pitches are meeting famous people they wanted to meat from the first place like the president. Yes, they do.

Recently the rapper 50 Cent threw the first pitch at a Pirates versus Me ts game. 50 Cent threw the ball with his left hand and missed the home plate and the catcher completely. His pitch was so far from a strike that he even laughed and smiled at his pitch. 50 Cent's real name is Curtis Jackson III. This article was funny because his pitch was not very good. I thought it was good that he was being a good sports and did not mind that his pitch was so wild. I would be so terrified and nervous to throw a pitch at Major League Baseball game.

This article is about the rapper 50 cent throwing possibly the worst first pitch before a baseball game in history. He nearly nicked a cameraman. He was a good sport about it though. He smiled about it and laughed it off. I think this article is funny because I play baseball and find it hard to throw a ball so far wide when you throw a pitch.

This article is about 50 cent throwing a bad ceremonial first pitch. The pitch was not only off of the target it was really wide. The pitch happened on Tuesday night before the Pirates and The Mets played each other. 50 cent threw the pitch left-handed and hit the backstop almost hitting a cameraman. After he threw the pitch 50 cent smiled and found his bad pitch amusing. 50 cent's real name is Curtis Jackson the 3rd. In my opinion it is funny that he managed to laugh it off even after throwing a terrible first pitch.

Rapper 50 Cent threw the traditional ceremonial first pitch at the Mets game. It was a terrible throw and replays of it will be shown for years. the left-handed pitch was so off it bounced to the backstop and nearly nicked a cameraman. 50 seemed to get a kick out of it all because he smiled after. I like 50 cent but this is funny.
