Patty Hanson and Blosom the cow smiled as their official Guinness World Records photo was taken after the animal was recognized as the world's tallest cow, at 6-foot-4.

Hanson received an email in mid-August saying Blosom had been named the world's tallest cow. She sought the record after veterinarians and the cow's foot trimmer constantly noted the 2,000-pound animal's large size, Hanson said. At the end of May, family and friends began documenting Blosom's mass. They shot photos and videos and her official measurements were taken by a vet from Orangeville Animal Health Service.

"When I put Blosom's halter on, she knows it's time to go to work greeting people and one of the best things I love about this big cow is she makes people smile. But now when I get to tell them they are looking at the world's tallest cow, I can't wait to see their reaction," Hanson said.

Hanson got Blosom when she was a calf and eventually decided to keep her as a pet. The cow turned 13 in July.

"My dad used to chuckle at Blosom, but soon softened up to her, which is why she stayed home on the farm as an addition to the many pets she adds character," Hanson said.

Hanson said she would like to turn Blosom's story into a children's book.

"Blosom is a bit like an overgrown dog," Hanson said. "To people who have cows, they will get what I am saying but I want other people to know she is special. I told my dad years ago that Blosom was destined for stardom and with this record she has achieved that."

Blosom will be included in the 2016 edition of the "Guinness Book of World Records."

Critical thinking challenge: If Blossom becomes the subject of a childrens book, what might the story be?

WOW! THATS A BIG COW! if blossom because the sublect of a childrens book it would be popular. I say that because it would have little children read to see how this cow is so big and would want to read about more information on this cow. people who own cows are probably jealous because they would love to have a big cow let this so it can get featured on alot of things. I wouldnt want a big cow like this because it would be a little harder to take of then a regular cow. You would have to buy bigger things for it more feed and when you take the cow somewhere it would be hard to travel.

I have never bought a Guinness Book of World Records before, but if crazy things like this cow are in the book, I am buying one. This cow must have been a real pain to take care of due to his height. This owner should be proud of her ginormous cow of her's. It shows she really cares about him.

That is a very big cow. I never thought a cow could get that big. I mean 6-foot-4 that is very impressive.
I wonder what its offspring would be like if they inherited these genes.

That cow is so big. I didn't know cows could grow to be that big, and tall. I wonder how big and tall the offspring would be if it had Blossom's genes. If Blossom becomes the subject of a children's book there may be other cows an animals on the farm. They could make fun of her because of her size and how abnormal it is and she would want to change her size. The moral of the story would be to love yourself no matter what you look like.

That truly is a pretty big cow. It must have been surprising finding out that blossom was the largest cow in the world. It be really cool, but it would be expensive to have that cow. For example it would need more food then a normal cow. You would need a large stall, but u wouldn't need a larger field then a normal cow. It's just truly amazing how big this cow is and how its 4 inches taller then me because I'm only 6 foot and the cow is 6-foot-4.

That's so cool. Blosom is taller than I am by at least a foot. I would love to meet her. She seems like an extraordinary animal and a great pet.

If Blossom becomes the subject of a children's book, then it might be about a giant cow. Maybe it will be called Blossom the Giant or something. It could have a life lesson at the end.

I think it would be really cool to have a cow bigger than you. You could ride it like it was a horse. If her story becomes a children's book, I hope that it inspires children. I wonder why the cow grew so big? Does it have a disease?
