The centerpiece of the new Harry Potter-themed area at Universal Orlando Resort will take visitors into Gringotts bank. There, they can help to retrieve a magical object.

The ride will be called "Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts." It re-creates a scene from the final Harry Potter book and film.

"It takes you into one of the great moments of the fiction," said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative.

The ride and the themed area is called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley. It will open in the summer. It will double the size of the Harry Potter landscape in the park.

The new features include a 60-foot dragon atop Gringotts Wizarding Bank, a labyrinth of Gringotts vaults, and a marble hall with goblins. Riders will be taken into a world as part of a quest to retrieve a magical object to defeat Lord Voldemort.

The ride will use 360-degree themed sets, digital high-definition animation, 3-D projection systems and live special effects.

The goal is to use new technology and intensely detailed storytelling to thrill Harry Potter fans. Universal also hopes to entice those who haven't read the books or seen the movies.

The new themed area will be located at Universal Studios Park in Florida. It will be tied to the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter area at Universal's Islands of Adventure via the Hogwarts Express train.

During the train ride, riders will spot characters and magical creatures from the book. Among them: Hagrid on a flying motorbike, the Weasley twins on brooms, and the Knight Bus in London traffic.

If fans want to see both parks, a two-park ticket will be required. For adults, a two-park ticket for one day costs $136; for children, it costs $130.

Critical thinking challenge: Why does this ride cost so much money? How much might it cost to build such a ride? Does Harry Potters creator, J.K.Rowling, get some of the money?

This ride cost so much money because well it takes so much to build it. With all the advanced technology being used to make this ride amazing, of course its going to cost a lot of money. I don't really know how much money it takes to build such a ride, but probably a ton of money. I do believe that that J.K. Rowling will get some profits since its obviously based off of her books. But, I really can't wait for this park to come out in the summer.

Wow that is cool! I wish I had enough money to ride the ride. I think its so much because people know that they can make money off of it. They don't care if not everyone can enjoy it they just want to make money. The only reason it would cost so much would be if it takes a lot of people to control the ride.

This is so amazing! I need to go to this. I love how they are recreating a scene from The Deathly Hallows and making it a ride. That's so cool!

I agree I would also like to go and ride it, but the real reason it is so amazing is because they take you on a trip through the harry potter series and you see things that you didn't see in the movie.I just hope they make it more in our price range.

Me being a huge harry potter fan, this ride sounds awesome! If I go on vacation to Florida, I am definitely visiting this park. It would be really interesting to see how they did some of the effects. This ride sounds cool!

This is very good for business for Universal Studios and pleasure for Harry Potter fans. The tickets cost an extreme amount of money though. I'm sure that J.K. Rowling will get a sizable portion of the rides earnings. I'm sure the ride's details also look very real to justify such a hefty price. I hope I can go there one day as I am a fan of the Harry Potter book series.

The ride costs so much money because it takes so much money to build it. It would cost much more than we would ever dream of having. I think J.K. does get some of the money. I want to go on this ride now!

I think it cost a lot of money because the need a value of money to makes helpful things for Universal and I don't think Rowling does because it's not her business but she probably got money when they asked her to get approval for the theme park.

You can feel like you are actually in the Harry Potter movies. A good thing is it will entice the riders who haven't read or seen all the Harry Potters. A bad thing would be if someone was scared of all the new features. A interesting thing is that if fans wanted to go to both parks they could get a two park ticket. I wanna go and feel like I am part of Harry Potter.

I think this ride costs do much money because it took a lot of money to build the ride. In my opinion, it probably took at least $200,000 to make this ride. If it costs more, it makes sene to me. The creators used new (and probably very expensive) technology to build this ride. I think it would make sense if J.K. Rowling got some of the money because if it wasn't for her, they wouldn't even have the Harry Potter experience.
