A Delaware teenager who started a literacy campaign that brings men into schools to read to children is among those honored as heroes by cable news network CNN.
The network honored 14-year-old Imani Henry of Wilmington as a Young Wonder. The honor is part of the annual CNN Heroes tribute and recognizes those who have distinguished themselves by helping others.
Henry was among those recognized by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper in a telecast Dec. 6.
Henry started a program called 100 Men Reading. She also was one of five winners picked from more than 1,100 nominees nationwide last year to receive $25,000 prizes, given by Peace First. It's a national nonprofit that encourages young people to work for positive social change.

Imani Henry is a hero for participating in the well being of the world. She has been recognized for distinguished herself from helping others. I think that she is a great role model for people and needs to be recognized more than what she has done. It is really cool to she that she is so young and helping the community.

Imani Henry is a hero because of the literacy program she launched for kids. The "Young Wonder" award is given to people who are well-known because of good deeds they have done. The article had said, "The tribute recognizes those who have made a name for themselves by helping others." Imani had made this program not to get famous, make money, or further herself in life; instead she made this program for the kids in the schools she helped. In conclusion, Imani is a hero because she did not create this program with the goal of benefiting herself in any way nor did she do it to win this competition.

I was glad that even though many people in our generation only do things to benefit themselves, there are still kids who do things with selfless intentions. I was also happy to learn that CNN not only honored adults for their good deeds, but also had a separate division which encourages kids to help others even if it doesn't help them.

She is a hero for starting this program, she is having men come in and read to the children, I think it is helping the children learn to read.
