Michelle Obama has finally revealed some of her workout secrets.

The first lady skips rope, does abdominal crunches with a weighted ball and jumps on and off a bench in a White House video released as part of the fifth anniversary celebration of her "Let's Move" initiative against childhood obesity.

She also chest presses 35-pound dumbbells and kick-boxes with a heavy bag in the brief video, which was recorded in the gym in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House and blasted out on the first lady's Twitter feed.

Mrs. Obama, 51, has been asking the public to use social media to tell her what five things they do to stay healthy.

Celebrities are helping the first lady promote her "GimmeFive" challenge and she began responding on Twitter to challenges from the public to reveal her five favorite workout songs, ways her family stays active and strategies to minimize stress. She said meditation is one stress reducer.

The video was Mrs. Obama's answer to President Barack Obama's video of his five healthy things and his challenge to her to do the same.

In his video, the president and Vice President Joe Biden jog along the White House colonnade and the president is also shown jogging up the stairs to Air Force One and holding walking meetings.

"So that's me. What about you? Give me five FLOTUS-style," Obama says, using the acronym for "first lady of the United States."

At the end of her video, Mrs. Obama plugs a related initiative designed to encourage people to drink more water.

"Don't forget. Always drink up," she says, before sipping from a glass.

    i think that all the first lady have not been as active as michelle obama she is one of the most healthy and active educator and the advantage of walking to meetings is a little bit of exercise in your day

    I think that eating healthy is good but Mrs. Obama is making everyone eat healthy and its ruining the 3 meals a day and kids and most adults hate it.

    I dont think that is what The First Lady is trying to do. I think her ideas are spot on because our nation has so many obese children. Encouraging them to eat healthy all of the time will help them maintain a good diet so there is less obesity. Also encouraging activities and excersize is good because right nowkids are revolving around social media, videogames and technology instead of real life interaction. Spending all of your time indoors and not intereacting with anyone is not beneficial.

    I think it's really great that someone like the first lady is using her status as an advantage to promote healthy habits among the country. She also tries to include celebrities. Because of her status,many people see what she promotes and share it through out their community. She implements fun, easy, basic ways to stay active, healthy and hydrated. Advantages of walking meetings are keeping the blood circulating in your legs instead of letting it pool up through out a long meeting that could last hours. You get fresh air, sun, and exercise, plus getting the meeting done.

    It is easy for me to stay healthy now cause I have been doing it for a while. But I remember feeling like it is the worst thing in the world to be healthy or work out. I try to encourage everyone to stay active.

    I honestly think that she took the whole fitness thing out of control because she really has no room to talk with how she looks and then she tries to push fitness on other people. I just don't get it.

    I completely agree. It's amazing that someone of such a title would go out of her way to make these videos to help get people in shape. I also think it's great that celebrities want to get involved and are promoting her cause. Although, some people may not be able to afford some of the equipment she uses to get fit. She has many free and easy ways to stay active and healthy. Overall, it's amazing that the Obama family is helping get people healthy.

    Critical Thinking Challenge- The advantages of walking meetings could be several things. First they can help you stay healthy. They could help improve your focus by getting your blood flowing and body moving. One of the biggest reasons is that being outside with a change from the boring old office is just fun, great, and energizing for all the people involved.

    I think a lesson we can all learn from this is being healthy is important and its not hard to stay healthy if you stick to a routine. So, this can be an option. ~examine the story for lessons we can learn from it
