A Maine lobsterman says he and his 14-year-old daughter caught a very rare blue lobster.

WCSH-TV reports Jay LaPlante of the Miss Meghan Lobster Catch company caught the creature in Scarborough. LaPlante and daughter Meghan were hauling traps when she discovered the bright blue critter.

The story has a happy ending for the lobster. Meghan says she is naming the lobster Skyler. She will donate it to the Maine State Aquarium. The aquarium says it has three other blue lobsters. It has an orange one. too.

Typical lobsters are often a brown or greenish color. Others can be bright red (uncooked), calico, multi-colored or orange. Albino is likely the rarest of all lobster shades. Albino means no color, or white.

"They're rare, but we still see them every summer," University of Maine Lobster Institute Executive Director Robert C. Bayer told Michael Kuhne of AccuWeather.com. "We see around three to four a year."

Bayer said much is unknown about the number of lobsters. But according to some estimates, only one out of two million is blue.

I like the lobster and I want them to find even more colorful lobsters. Also I would like to see one for my self. How do the lobsters have all of those colors? Were they born like that or did something happen to it? I think they should keep looking for them.

This is really cool. I have never seen one of those. I've heard of them but never seen one that blue. Has anyone found a Albino lobster if yes who was it?

I really wonder why this lobster is blue because if this lobster is the only blue one out of two million lobsters than it either got painted with permanent paint that could never wash off or it got born wrong because these days I don't see any blue lobsters when I go to the market to buy lobsters. Well if they keep it at the aqauriam then the blue lobster should be in a nice home without people to close to it because people want to see a blue lobster they get super close which will be startled.

I think pioneers ate all the blue lobsters, so they are less blue lobsters. I wonder how will it taste. We should not catch it and eat it we should save them so they will not extinct. If I catch a blue lobster I will let it go. wish we could have a lot of lobsters.
