Thousands of female engineers have joined a Twitter campaign. Self-described science nerds have also joined. And other tech superstars have joined. They want to break down stereotypes. Their issue is what engineers should look like.

More than 75,000 people used the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer. This was as of Aug. 6. They can post photos of themselves. They promote gender diversity in technology. This is according Topsy. It is an to analytics firm. The campaign started with Isis Anchalee. She is an engineer. She wors at the tech startup OneLogin. She got a lot of attention. It came after her photo was in a recruitment ad for her company.

The ad features Anchalee. She has long, wavy hair. She has on glasses. She is smiling. She is wearing a black T-shirt. It has her company's logo on it. Many people could not believe that a pretty woman could also be an engineer at a tech company. Some thought that the company had hired a model.

"I didn't want or ask for any of this attention. But if I can use this to put a spotlight on gender issues in tech I consider that to be at least one win." She wrote this in an essay. It appeared on Medium. She suggested people use #ILookLikeAnEngineer to post photos of themselves. The idea is to redefine ideas of what engineers should look like.

It seems to be working. And it's not only women sharing photos. Other groups in tech are too. African-American men have joined in. The campaign is growing bigger each minute.

First of all,it is the most important thing to separate how a person looks and what a person does in communication. For example, there are a lot of differences such as the characters and standards of the people in the world.

It is important to separate how a person looks and what a person does because everyone have their abilities and standard.People can guess abilities and standard by looking. So, they should wear their uniform. They can show their job and school.

I think it isn't that important because you can't judge a book by its cover

I do not think it is important to separate how someone looks but, what a person does. What you do defines who you are and where you stand on this Earth. By that I mean we all are human, significant to one another. Our actions speak for ourselves. Labels mean nothing as well do our looks. Looks have nothing to do with how we can change the world.

I don't think its important because you are who you are. You can't judge anyone by what they look like or who they are. It dosen't matter what color they are. We all stand together, we all are human, we all have the same blood so why does it matter what color we are or what we look like. That's why I don't think it's important.

It is important because a person can be in big trouble for something they don't really do. Also another reason why i feel this way is because it is not fair to anyone that's has to get in trouble just by the way they look and it is not fair to be misjudged. And if you separate how people look from what they actually do you can see the true meaning of them

It does not matter how somebody looks because,if you tell some that they look ugly that can easily hurt their feelings.and if somebody makes fun about what you're wearing they might go home and cry about it and might no want to come back to school ever again.

I think that is not correct because not everybody should work as an engineer.

I think that a way you can sperate how a person look from what they do is how they act. what they were and their first impression to everything and every body.how they talk to you and the way they be smelling how they be lookingand how they could be wearing anthing they want but they still work as an engenire
