A lost, blind dog has been rescued.

The 11-year-old Labrador retriever is named Madera. She ventured away from home in Ester, Alaska, on Feb. 6. The temperature dipped to 40 degrees below zero.

Her owner, Ed Davis, said he didn't expect to find her alive.

"My best hope was to walk those trails and look for a track that might be hers," he said.

Davis expects he never would have found Madera if Constantine Khrulev hadnt been out on the trails last week. He was riding a fat bike. His own dog, was with him. The dog was wearing a bell.

The bell-wearing dog made the difference, Davis said. Madera, responded to the bell. She let out a whine as the dog ran by. Khrulev went into the woods. He found her under a tree. It was more than 100 yards from the trail. That was about half a mile from Davis house.

She was not going to be found accidentally, Davis said.

Davis said his dog lost 14 pounds. Overall, he said, she was healthy.

The man who rescued her, Constantine Khrulev, asked for the $100 reward money to go to the Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fund. Davis was so impressed by the gesture that he increased the donation to $250.

Madera is completely blind because of an autoimmune disease.

This wasn't the only tale of a lost, blind dog to end happily in Fairbanks in recent years. A blind 8-year-old dog named Abby walked more than 10 miles in 2012 from her home in the Two River area before she was rescued.

Critical thinking challenge: This story had a happy ending. Give two reasons why the happy ending was unlikely.

The last article talk about Madera, she is a Labrador, she is 11 years old.

Her owner, Ed Davis, said he didnt expect to find her alive.
He said that he wait by one track of she.

I think that is a wonderful story, because is impressive that a blind dog be able to being found prone the situation and the temperature.
Critical thinking challenge: This story had a happy ending. Give two reason why the happy ending was unlikely.
Because the dog, Madera, she is blind, for that is more probably that she lost and more difficult of find.
Other reason is the place, since Alaska is very cold, and the day that Madera lost the temperature was very low.

That is so amazing that a blind dog went missing and the owners and some other people found her that is so amazing. It is also a really good idea to put bells on dogs not just blind dogs any kind of dogs it is always devastating losing a dog. I can't even believe that they found her if my dog went missing I would slowly fall apart.

I wonder if the dog was blind when it first left it's home. And I can't believe how far it has gotten. But I wonder if it ate anything. And how skinny he is. But they said the dog had a bell on it. So the dog must be very smart. But I just think he ran not just walking.

A dog named Madera It was lost in Alaska. Her owner, David, thought that he would never find his dog alive. Days later a man was riding his bike with his own dog, and his dog was wearing a bell. Madera responded to the bell of the dog, and she let out a whine. The man and his dog went into the woods and found Madera under a tree, far from Davids house. Madera lost many pounds. The man asked for the reward money to go to the animal shelter fund. This is an amazing and beautiful story and I think that the happy ending was unlikely because when the dog left the her house the temperature dipped to 40 degrees below zero, with that temperature the dog the dog could have died frozen , and the second reason is that if the dog lost many pounds, she could have died of malnutrition.

I think that it was nice of the guy named Constantine Khrulev finding that dog and giving t back to the owner and it was even more nice of him to give the money award which was one hundred dollars to the animal shelter instead of keeping the money to himself and that is why the owner of the dog Ed Davis wanted to make the price go higher. That is a good idea.

    REBUTTAL:
William I disagree with your article because the dog was already blind when he left home because it said that the dog was blind of some disease. Also the article said that the dog ate nothing and I think you are just writing these sentences without reading the article carefully. Also it wasn't the dog who had a bell on it. It was an another dog who had a bell and the blind dog heard it and he replied and that's how the dog with the bell found the blind dog. I think next time when you're writing a comment you should read the article more carefully than write the comment.
