Chris Walton has been working on her fingernails for 18 years. And it's finally paying off.
Guinness World Records named Walton the woman with the longest fingernails on Wednesday, introducing "The Dutchess" and her nails at an event in New York City. The Las Vegas woman helped kick off the 2012 edition of the Guinness World Records book, which goes on sale later this month.
Walton's nails measure 10-feet-2-inches on her left hand and 9-feet-7-inches on her right hand. She said she does her own nails and makeup and does household chores even though her nails twist and turn.
"I hate all the cleaning, but I do it. And the makeup, I only wear so much," said Walton, who has also been working on a singing career while raising a family.
The previous record holder for longest nails was Lee Redmond of Salt Lake City, according to the Guinness World Records website. Redmond's nails measured a total 28 feet in 2008 but she lost her nails in a car crash the following year, the site said.

That is so gross! I wonder if she gets a lot of dirt under her nails. How does she get her nails so curly? I bet a lot of people are wondering how she can live with those nails.
How can she live with them. How can she clean or even go to work. How dose she sleep and eat with 18 feet long nails.
Those nails are really long. How can she pick things up. Does she have someone do it for her.If i was her i would trim them.
Wow a lady that has finger nails that's 10 feet tall that must be hard for her. I wonder if she could like jump rope with her nails. So wait a minute your saying that she puts on make up with them nails and clean.wow!!! I want to meet this lady and ask her how did she get nails to be curly and twistie.
I think that growing your nails very long is nasty. It would be hard to work with your hand and the nails could get in the way. It would also be hard to clean your nails because there would be a lot of dirt in the nails. Her nails could get tangled up and would break. She would have wasted her time growing her nails all these years.
I can't believe you could grow such long nails. I think that's really gross and I could never do that because I'm always cutting my nails. How could you manage that for so long?? :0
wow! She has long nails! how could she do chores,put on make up or take care of her kids? Why is her left hand nails longer? If had nails like that i would clip them right off.
I think it is cool to have 10 feet long nails.I would do it but I hate having long nails.I Wonder how she did not brace them that much.How did she do work.
That is sooo disgusting!!! I mena it;s cool that she go ther nails to grow that long, but its gross! Her make has to look off. How would you make it look good?! With all the twist and turns. I guess i'd have to see it before i judge. Buht...
I know it said that she can get her household chores done but, it must take her forever. It is probably really hard to do the little things such as, buttoning buttons, opening wrappers, and making food and drinks. I wouldn't be able to do that because I do many sports and also do guitar. In one of my sports you have to have them cut pretty short. She must stay home a lot.
