Wolverine proposes to Buckeye in Ohio Stadium

Wolverine proposes to Buckeye in Ohio Stadium A University of Michigan football fan loves his girlfriend so much that he proposed to her on hostile territory: the field of her favorites, the archrival Ohio State Buckeyes.

Abbey Zellers didn't know what was happening Tuesday evening when Johnny Wakefield led her to the empty Ohio Stadium and then down to the 50-yard line. She told him, "We've got to get out of here. Someone is going to kick us out."

That's when Wakefield dropped to one knee and popped the question. He had paid $150 to use the stadium for an hour, for the purpose of the proposal.

Zellers, 28, said yes right away. "It was a total shock," she said, adding that she thought they were merely celebrating their 10-month anniversary.

She grew up near Akron following Ohio State and now lives in central Ohio, as does Wakefield, 27, though his admiration for the Michigan Wolverines is a holdover from his parents, both Detroit natives.

Ohio State receives about five stadium "rental" requests for marriage proposals each year and puts the money in the athletic department's general funds, said Brittan Roth, the department's assistant director of event management.

Zellers got another surprise later on Tuesday when she was taken to an engagement party. Her younger sister, Keli-Jo White, was on hand even though she was supposed to be retaking part of a test at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The professor, an Ohio State graduate, agreed to reschedule as long as she could see a photo of the proposal — showing "Michigan" bowing down in Ohio Stadium.

Summary:
A University of Michigan football fan loves his girlfriend so much that he proposed to her on hostile territory- the field of her favorites, the archrival Ohio State Buckeyes.

I think that is really nice of him to do that for her. But i had no idea that you could rent a football stadium for that cheap. That is cool. I should have a party there and rent the place for 3 hours. I sure hope that there relationship works out and they didn't move to fast.

This is the most insane thing ever. These two teams are the most rivaled teams in college. They can be lovers but still. I went to the Michigan vs Ohio State game and they were calling each other names. I don't know why they had to get married at Ohio state University they could have gotten married at a church or somewhere else.

I hope when I get older my boyfriend will be sweet enough to propose to me in the middle of my Rodeo Arena. I have grown up there, so all my precious memories are there, and when I get proposed to I will have one more memory in my favorite place.

I think that was really sweet! She must have felt so special, as every girl should when she's getting married. Major brownie points for him.

That is soo sweat. Proposing in their favorite football team station. I wonder why they don't charge more for renting the stadium? Its a bit cheap for a hour.

That's when Wakefield dropped to one knee and popped the question. He had paid $150 to use the stadium for an hour, for the purpose of the proposal wow that much money for a stadium for an hour i thought maybe it would be at least $1000.

ok one she cheated with him on a guy that is 17 that she's a teacher to. so now she's in court debating if she should be put i jail or not.

I wouldn't really call that odd news. You know why? 'Cause that's really sweet to propose at a football stadium even counting that its her favorite stadium.

I agree that the proposal was very sweet. She was probably so happy because it was her favorite stadium. This guy seems really sweet and romantic.
