Teen makes prom dress out of gum wrappers
Teen makes prom dress out of gum wrappers
An Iowa teen is all bubbly over her one-of-a-kind high school prom dress she made out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson made her dress — and matching vest for her date — out of blue and white wrappers from Wrigley's "5 gum."
The high school junior says she got the idea after hearing about someone making a dress out of duct tape.
She and her boyfriend began collecting gum wrappers last August. Rasmuson says she quit counting after 200.
Since the wrappers break easily, Rasmuson finished her dress with a vinyl top coat.

Wow!!!!!!!!!! This girl must have had a lot of time on her if she could collect over 200 gum wrappers and make a dress and a matching vest for her date to wear to prom. While, at least she's recycling and looking good at the same time.
Iowa teen makes prom dress out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson made her own dress, and a matching vest for her date. They used gum from Wrigley's "5 gum." The girl got the idea from hearing about someone making their own duct tape dress. They have been saving gum wrappers since August.
That's pretty impressive of her to make a dress like that . But it seems like I've seen this before. I wonder how long it took her to make that dress and the vest? I would never have the confidence of wearing a dress like that. What if the dress breaks and falls apart during dancing? I would be very embarrassed if that happened.
That is pretty impressive because if i tried to do that i know that it would turn into a complete mess! Its also cool that a girl at that young of an age can be such a creative entrepreneur!! I would have never been able to come up with an idea like that.
I think this is really creative. It must have taken a lot of time and dedication to make such a intricate dress. If she collected papers from other people, or set up a collection box, this would be a cheaper alternative to buying an expensive prom dress.
This is soooo cool ! I wish i had a prom dress made out of gum wrappers ! That is such a creative way to put some fun into stuff ! She probably didn't have enough money to buy her own ! But this is sure one cool idea!!!
A teen, made a dress out of gum rappers! On April 13 2010, she made it because it was imaginative and fun. They made it out of Wrigley's "5 gum" . The wrappers break easily so they finished it with a vinyl top coating.
I think " Wow how much gum did they use, and waste". Also how much money was it too ha ha. It must be alot for over 200 pieces of gum. If I remember correctly, I think there is 14 pieces of gum in a pack.
If you like gum, then you need to meet this girl ! If only I knew how many wrappers she used, and how long it took to make. I would like to have that vest.
Wooow. Over 200 wrappers that is alot. That is such a creative idea. Maybe they will make one out of candy wrappers next year. Well, next dance. Maybe I will. Take that back nobody do my idea. Be care full don't get it wet. That must take a long time to make.
I can not believe that the girl made a dress out of duct tape! But I want to learn how to make a dress out of duct tape too!
