Student expelled after wearing mini-dress A Brazilian university has expelled a woman who was heckled by hundreds of fellow students for wearing a short, pink dress to class. Bandeirante University in Sao Bernardo do Campo, outside Sao Paulo, said 20-year-old Geisy Arruda disrespected "ethical principles, academic dignity and morality."

Bandeirante University published newspaper advertisements Sunday accusing Arruda of attending class with "inadequate clothing" and having a provocative attitude that was "incompatible with the university environment."

Arruda made headlines after the Oct. 22 incident, in which she had to be escorted away by police after wearing the mini-dress to class. She put on a professor's white coat and left amid a hail of insults and curses. The university said it was also temporarily suspending some of the students who were seen heckling Arruda in a video of the incident that made the rounds on Youtube. It did not say how many were being suspended or how long they would be kept from attending classes.

Brazil's national student union released a statement on Sunday saying it was against the university's decision to expel Arruda, and Brazil's top official for women's policy, Nilcea Freire, told the official Agencia Brasil news service that the decision showed "intolerance and discrimination."

Although Brazil is known for its skimpy attire, especially in beach cities, most college students dress more modestly on campus — commonly in jeans and T-shirts. Some students had complained that Arruda seemed out of place, Brazilian media reported.

In my opinion I think she souldn't have worn it, but they took it TOO seriously, she should have gotten a warning, BUT NOT EXPELLED!!!!

Honestly this was a little over board! I don't think she should have gotten expelled just for a little mini skirt, i mean sure she should've gotten in trouble but not EXPELLED!!! a warning would have been fine!!!

I think she should be punished for wearing a mini dress but to be expelled is a bit to much! They should have made her change and give her a in school suspension or something but not to expell her

Now, expelling a girl for wearing clothes is going too far. Its not like she was showing too much its just legs. They could have just let her change clothes or just suspended her. They should NOT have expelled her from school. That's just crazy talk. I think that the University was just out of order for that.

I think it was really DUMB of the school to expell the girl for wearing a mini-dress to class. They should have told her to change but to EXPELL her that is a whole different matter! It is not like she brought a gun or drugs to class or something it is ONLY a dress!

They should have not expelled her. If it was too short and revealing they could ask her to go change, but expelling is going to far.

i do not think that they should have expelled that girl just for wearing a mini dress to class!!! i mean yeah the dress was inapropriate for class but i do not think they should have handled the problem by expelling the girl! i mean like the least they could have done is ask they girl very nicely if she could go home and change or have someone bring her some different clothes!! there was no reason at all for them to expell her just cuz of a mini dress!

i think its not fair that she got expelled she only made one mistake why expell her for something that is no reason once so ever . She could of maybe got a suspension or detiontion or something but they went to overboard over a mini dress edlease she did not come to school in something else like a bikini she's covering up the parts that need to be i mean its wrong to wear a mini dress to school but its not right to expell them it doesnt make NO SENSE !
