Spelling counts. No apple for the Big Apple.
Spelling counts. No apple for the Big Apple.
Everyone who's ever gone to school should know how to spell "school."
But someone who plastered a school crossing sign on the street in front of a New York City high school got it wrong.
The big white letters in front of Marta Valle High School on the Lower East Side say "SHCOOL X-NG."
A spokesman for the city Department of Transportation said the error was made by a utility provider, not by the city.
The Post says workers apparently cut into the several months ago to get to underground utility lines. When utilities or contractors perform work on a city street, they are responsible for restoring it correctly.
The Department of Transportation spokesman said the error will be corrected.

How do you spell school wrong it is spelled ''School'' not shcool. It is the most common word ever in The United States of America.
This is probably a simple mistake. The city can fix this easily, so its not a very big deal. The guy probably just wasnt thinking.
Wow that's so funny because they had to dig up the street and they painted the word school wrong. They should fix it by switching the H and the C. That's gonna be easy for them. Maybe my brother can spell school right. My brother is six years old.
Wow! The people who plastered this to the street must feel like their not the brightest. I think the people who put that on their should go back to "school". You have to buy a pretty big eraser to get rid of that mistake!
I understand people make mistakes but tax payers have to pay for their mistakes. I think the people that messed it up should have to pay for it and fix it because its not right for other tax payers that didn't do nothing.
i mean i don't think that its there fault for spelling it wrong. it shows that no ones perfect no matter what. i think it is kinda funny. they showed this on CNN student news.
Wow it must be really embarrassing for the person who made this mistake. I have always accidently switch those two letters. I would have written it down first before I painted something that a lot of people would see.
Spelling a simple word like "school" wrong, shows that not everyone is perfect. I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about this because the construction workers are just humans, and humans make mistakes. I'm sure they didn't intentionally make this mistake, and they are fixing it anyway. Although most grown adults who have likely gone through school should know how to spell, everyone makes mistakes. The article states that "The Department of Transportation spokesman said the error will be corrected." This says that the mistake will have to be corrected, and therefore there is no use in complaining about something that will be fixed. This was a silly mistake, and people need to understand that not everything is going to be perfect; there will be some mistakes in your life and you just have to accept it.
Shcool? What I bet that the whole town would laugh at me if I was the on who painted that!!!! to be the on who painted that. I am in the 6th grade, and I have known how to spell school for a long long time.
wow. great job new york. someone needs to go back to "school" not "shcool". well i guess if you get a job putting words onto a street your education level must not be that high, but come on if that is your job don't you think you should at least spell school correctly. COME ON MAN!!
