Snowmageddon hits VA, MD, DC, NJ, PA

Snowmageddon hits VA, MD, DC, NJ, PA Planes were grounded, trains stood still and Greyhound buses weren't rolling in the Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday, leaving stranded travelers wondering when they'll be able to escape the icy, gray mess created by a major snowstorm.

Many roads reopened but officials continued to warn residents that highways were still icy, a remnant from the storm President Barack Obama called "Snowmageddon." Many school districts across the region are giving students a snow day on Monday.

In Washington, the sun was finally shining Sunday and the sounds of shovels could be heard on streets. In contrast to Saturday, when people were frolicking on the barren streets, thoughts turned Sunday to cleanup.

In Philadelphia, 28.5 inches of snow fell during the storm, just shy of the record 30.7 inches during a January 1996 blizzard. Snow totals were even higher to the west in Pennsylvania, with 31 inches recorded in Upper Strasburg and 30 inches in Somerset.

It might of been the super moon that happens evry 18 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also it must of been fun sledding down the street. I wounder how long it took to clear?

it would be fun and cool. i would get to go snow plowing again. but i would hate to have to get more snow days. i guess i have to wait until winter 2010.

I think that's a lot of snow for those places. 31 inches is almost 2 and a half feet of snow. That's a big snow day!

WOW that is a lot of snow I use to live in PA half of my life up there. I really miss the snow up there I wish I was still living there with my father but he does not like the snow so now he lives in Florida. It's fun living up there you could play football in the Snow with a heavy coat then when you get tackled you would not feel a thing. I miss living there:(

I think that is a lout of snow but i do not think that is the recored. The most snow was 30.18 not 30.7.
i found it on extremer weather . com. i feel they showed have stated that they ment in that town or said that in that area.

WOW! That is one big pile of snow! I used to live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and we had snow sometimes, but never this much! I can't imagine how hard it would be to clean up after that snow day.

I wish we had that much snow last winter because then we would have a snow day and I could go to Mission Ridge and go snowboarding.

I wish it snowed down here. I haven't seen snow in 5 years because I moved. I want to go snowboarding, I've never done that before.

there was cancellations of schools and transportation because of snow. the roads are still icy even with the snow is removed. it hit in MD,VA,PA,NJ,and DC. Mr. Obama said it was snowmageddon. in PA they got as much as 28.5 inches of snow.

it would be cool to have snow. it would be fun and cool. i would get to go snow plowing again. but i would hate to have to get more snow days. i guess i have to wait until winter 2010.

That wouldn't be fun cleaning it all up or fixing all those broken wires. I would hate to be one of those road workers to clean all that snow away.
