Sneaker shoppers riot over new Nikes
A Hagerstown, Md., mall was closed temporarily after a crowd became unruly while waiting for a shoe store to open and begin selling Nike's new Foamposite sneaker.
The Washington County Sheriff's office says officers went to the Valley Mall after a disturbance was reported among about 100 people waiting for the store to open Saturday morning.
The sheriff's office says some shoppers told officers they had been waiting in line overnight and others began cutting in line.
Sheriff Douglas Mullendore told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown the release of the new shoe drew shoppers from as far away as Washington, over 70 miles away. Mullendore said after the mall was locked down, patrons were escorted into the shoe store a few at a time.

Who would fight over shoes;like seriously they make more then one pair of these shoes and in my opinion these shoes are pretty cool. Also there are a lot of people in this world without shoes and they decide to fight over these shoes....WOW!
why wood ppl want to wait in line for shoes they will be there tomarow and if there not u can always order them for nike them selves i just think some ppl wanted to just get them bc there friends where so they wanted to feel cool all tht im saying its not the shoes tht matter its u
Really? you fight over shoes when we have people without homes and food you should really try to fight for something more meaning full like homeless people.
Yeahh i bet there was a huge line. I ordered my nike air foamposite ones Penny Hardaway and i got backordered a weel or so! These are the sickest and most comfortable shoes i ever wore. I am wearing the shoes as i type this. Treat these shoes with care because they are soo nice.
Those are one of the coolest shoes I have ever see but to start a riot and sleep outside the store seems like a waste of time. I really like those shoes though. Can someone tell me how much they cost?
I don't like those shoes. which are called sneakers. That's just not my style. It could be someone Else's but not mine. I just don't like it. That's just my opinion.
These shoes must of been really cool to some people. To stand in line overnight for a pair of Nike's not including the fortunate you'll have to pay for them. Who knows...
these foamposite's are ridiculous. they aren't even as much as you would expect. my friend has a pair. even those these are nice shoes, there is no reason for people to riot over them. i love shoes but i definitely wouldnt riot and cut people in line. these people who rioted caused the whole mall to close temporarily, which isn't right.
I think these shoes are okay. I wouldn't riot over them though! That's crazy! I can't believe people would physically fight over shoes. People are crazy these days!
Why are people rioting over those they are just shoes! I do not even like those at all, but I can respect you if you are a really good player. Although it might be cool to have those if they where not so expensive! I am still clueless why people are so obsessed with those shoes!
