Shark seeks snack in kayak attack

Shark seeks snack in kayak attack A man says he survived an uncomfortably close encounter with a great white shark off the Northern California coast that left 18-inch bite marks on his kayak.

Adam Coca says he was fishing in his 13-foot kayak near Pigeon Point, about 45 miles south of San Francisco, on Saturday when something bumped his boat and flipped him over.

The 45-year-old says he was halfway in the water when he saw a great white shark chewing on the kayak. He climbed atop the overturned boat and held on as the shark continued biting the nose.

Coca says the shark then got tangled in the paddle leash and bit through it before swimming away.

Nearby kayakers helped Coca, who was unhurt, paddle to shore. Photos of the kayak show it covered in bite marks, with some tooth holes in the bow.

Shark seeks snack in kayak attack:
A man kayaking in the southern area of California was attacked by a Great White Shark. He first felt his boat rub against something. Next the shark tipped the boat over, and then started eating the kayak. The man fortunately was not injured. If I were the person in the kayak, I would be very terrified. I don’t even think I would make it out alive!

I would be SSOO SCARED!!!! If I was that close to a shark about to eat me I would faint!! I'm so glad he didn't get bit, if he did no one would be out there to save him!!!!

That is good that the guy didn't get bit by the massive shark. It would have been a trajedy if he got bit because he was in the ocean and no one could have saved him.My question that I have is; why did the shark bite the kayak and not the guy? I would be kind of scared to kayaking in the ocean with all the sharks.I am glad that the guy escpaed without getting hurt, but his kayak is not so okay.

Wow that is very scary the thought of almost being eaten. That was a close one. imagine being almost eaten by a huge shark like that. 18 inches is very long for an animal bite. That is one of the reasons I will not go kayaking anywhere near a place that is shark infested. So glad you are ok and just your kayak was bitten.

That would be so scary!!! I wonder if the shark even saw him? You'd think that it would see him!!! If it did you would think it would attack him instead.

Adam was pretty close to Año Nuevo State Reserve. This Reserve is a park where Elephant Seals come to breed. The shark probably thought the kayak was an Elephant Seal. This time of year is when the Elephant Seals come back to that park. He should have known it was lunch time for the sharks. He was very lucky that he didn't become a snack. The shark was probably disappointed that the kayak wasn't an Elephant Seal.

He is lucky because most shark attacks most of the people die . That would kind of be cool because not a lot of people get to see a great white and you can tell your children. I wonder how big the shark was and if it was a male or female. That is hard to believe because a shark would chase you but probably thought the kayak was a big fish.

I think that this article is pretty interesting. Why would the shark attack the kayakers instead the people. I think its pretty funny or weird because i thought shark only go for their prey, buy why the kayakers. Anyways i think that its good that the white shark didn't attack the guy because if the shark didn't go for the kayakers, than the guy in the kayakers wouldn't survive.

If I was in that boat I would probe ly faint.i would not want that big thing cummingup near my boat and trying to have me for a snack.i would tap the shark on its nose because it will freez.after that I would hang on that boat for dear life.im glade that man did not get hurt or eaten up.he is a very brave man to not pass out or anything.that is what I think of this article.
