Pick the music that wakes the astronauts
Pick the music that wakes the astronauts
Now's your chance to help pick astronauts' wake-up music.
NASA is holding a first-of-its-kind contest to select some songs that will rouse the crews of the final two shuttle flights. Normally, astronauts' family and friends choose the tunes.
The space agency's Top 40 list is posted online. The two top vote-getters serve as wake-up calls during Discovery's November flight. The choices include Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" and Tom Petty's "Free Fallin," as well as some U2 and Elton John.
NASA also is seeking original space-themed songs. Two winners will wake up Endeavour's crew in February.
The contest is styled after NASA's face-in-space promotion.

Now's your chance to help pick astronautas' wake up music. NASA is holding a first-of-this-kind contest select some songs that will rouse the crews final two shuttle flights.
I feel astronauts should not hear the music of this era. Personally i don't even like songs that are playing in the radio and I'm just a regular teenagers. I gave up on music long time ago because the mean behind the lyrics make no sense. For example, instead of persuading people about peace, love, compassion like The Beatles,Louis Armstrong,Al Green or Bob Marley people only hear about gangs and violence. I personally use music as a way to escape my problems and the sad reality we live in. Nothing is more pleasing than putting your earphones, close your eyes and fall asleep to sweet music you will feel will impact your day in a positive attitude. I guess everybody have different taste in music and i respect that. So my top choice for the astronauts would be Bob Marley- Three little birds. I tend to use this song when i am stress out about homework and just say everything is going to be alright.
Now its your chance to pick the next song that the NASA astronauts wake up to. Normally the friends or family pick the music they wake up to but this time there holding a contest and the person with the best recommendation of a good song wins. The top four choices are Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" and Tom Petty's "Free Fallin," and U2 and Elton John. Nasa is mainly seeking for an original space themed song. This event is part of a music in space promotion. I would recommend "Major Tom". It is space themed and has cool lyrics. This idea of a music promotion in space is a fun and also a way to listen to new music.
i think that the astronauts should wake up to the Beatles because their music is so cool but if i was a astronauts i would want to pick my own music
The song should be stereo love. That is like the best song in the world. I love that song and I think the astronauts will love it too. Kids love this song and some parents love it to. I think that this should be the best song to play for the astronauts
I think that they should listen to some avenged sevenfold or BFMV. That's what I wake up to in the morning and it works. Or they should listen to the crappiest music ever. That would wake them up because they would have to turn it off. Those are what i think they should listen to.
I picked this article because a couple days ago, I woke up to a song on my radio called Whip My Hair by Willow Smith. It was really loud and it was right next to me, so at 5:00 in the morning I hear, "I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH, I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH", which to me is a really loud and obnoxious song to wake up to, so you would want to get up to turn it off. I thought this article was interesting because if the astronauts woke up to Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon, wouldn't they just fall back asleep? Also, I would recommend this to other people just to see what songs they would choose to wake up to.
If I could pick a song for the astronauts to help them wake up, I would pick "Tom Sawyer," by Rush. The reason I would pick this song is because it is very upbeat, and it talks about the day being a mean ride. I think being on a space shuttle would be a wild ride.
Let them listen to Metallica up in space, because there are aliens who need metal.power to the aliens........'I took all of his money it was a pretty penny I took all of his money and I brought it home to Molly, she said that she loved me and that she'd never leave me but the devil got that woman and you know she tricked me easy...whiskey in the jar-o. --Whiskey in the Jar-Metallica
