Ohio hospital cooks s'mores inside hot car
A hospital in Cleveland has used the fun campfire activity of making s'mores to make a serious point about this week's blazing heat.
University Hospitals on Thursday baked up a batch of the chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker treats inside a closed-up car out in the sun. A thermometer showed it took about 30 minutes for the temperature inside the vehicle to rise to nearly 130 degrees.
Dr. Jerri Rose in the emergency department says it's a reminder that the heat in cars can become extreme and threaten the health of children left inside.
Cleveland's outside temperature rose to 97 on Thursday, tying the record for July 21.

This do think this whole article is a little weird. I know it's probably really hot outside but seriously if the car was on fire I think you would be standing there roasting a marshmallow!
That's weird that they wanted to cook s'mores in a car. If they wanted to show how hot it gets in a car why didn't they just announce it on the news? How could the people in the car roast the marsh mellows without dieing?
I think ohio burning car is wrong just to make s'mores. I think the author's porpuse was to entertain us because there was no car burned to make s'mores.

I believe that this shows that leaving kids in a car for a long time without some sort of way to cool down on a hot day could have major consequences. Maybe now people will be able to think twice before leaving a child unattended in a car, even for a short while. Also, if this hospital was making a point by making s'mores from the heat in this car, what did they do with the s'mores? did they give it to the patients? Now I'm hungry. Now I know that all I need is a car.
WOW! That is amazing! I knew that cars got pretty hot when left out in the sun but 130 degrease in 30 minutes. I am happy anyways because they didn't use fuel to cook the marshmallows; smart thinking. Finally people realize what happens when children are left inside a car in the sun. This really changes how I looked at people staying in a car. I had only one question, did the marshmallows burn or did they just melt like inside of a microwave?
I can't believe a car endures this much heat internally. In my opinion this was a great idea. Not only to show the intense heat of a car cooking in the sun, but to show the extreme heat that can threaten the health of children left inside.
Ew. Did they actually eat the s'mores? Also, this is good to know, because some parents run in the store and just leave there chid in the car and are like no big deal, i'll be back soon. Soon could turn into an hour and you just left your child in the car for an hour when its 90 degrees outside.
Good idea. Maybe. those marshmallos probably taste like a new car. I could imagine that it would taste HORIBBLE! HORIBBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably very hot car too. how does it not burn the car.
People that have kids should know not to leave pets and children inside a hot car. Also, roasting marshmallows in a car is just gross.
I think it would be fun to roast a marshmallow inside a car. I mean that would be just fun to do even if they were trying to prove a point about children not to be left in cars. I still think that that would be fun!
