"My dog ate my passport"
"My dog ate my passport"
A Wisconsin teenager using a classic excuse for evading schoolwork missed a class trip to Peru despite his tale being true: The dog ate his passport. Officials at Chicago's O'Hare airport told 17-year-old Jon Meier the chewed-on document was fine, but authorities in Miami rejected it and wouldn't let him board the southbound aircraft.
His family's 1-year-old golden retriever, Sunshine, chewed a corner of the document, obscuring some numbers. Meier couldn't get another passport in time to join the trip with his Spanish class from Eau Claire North High School. The 12-day trip ended Monday.
Meier says he can't blame anyone, not even Sunshine: "I love her too much."

Get out, you could have given it to the dog and she ate it you don't know so you can't go so what you need to break that dogs habit!!
That is terrible for that person. He has to miss out on a trip because his dog ate it. I would be upset if I were him. I would still love my dog. They should have let him fly.
It started with Wisconsin teenager not being able to join his class trip. Why because his dog at his passport. His golden retriever sunshine chewed a couple of numbers from the passport. Officials denied the excuse of the 17 year old teenager. I think that it was unfair that the officials did not allow him to Bord is Spanish class feild trip. If I was him I would just jump into the plane!
I don't think my dog has every eaten my homework or my passport. Even if she did I would not blame her because I love her to much. I have never heard anyone in my life use the excuse "My dog ate my homework!" My dog would probably spit out my homework. I wonder who came up with that phrase my dog ate my homework or if someone’s dog really did eat someone’s homework. I would be sad if I missed my class trip to Peru.
oh my goodness i would cry because i always wanted to go to Peru. i hope he got his money back! that would be so bad if he didn't
that would suck. i would demand my boarding. if my dog ate my passport i would probably get mad at the dog. but my dog knows not to touch or chew my stuff. i would probably would be begging to go because Peru is awesome. at the airport i would be crying. i would probably go into depression.
I would have loved to see the look on the clerks face when he said that. I'm sure that at first they thought he was lying, as any adult would. I'm sure it was extremely amusing as the officials discovered that the boys claim was true.
A 17-year old guy named Jon Meir could not go on his class trip to Peru because his dog chewed his passport. He was able to leave Chicago airport, but they would not let him leave Miami to Peru.
It would be hard if that happened to me. I would feel unlucky and left out. But it might have been a good thing they didn’t let him leave Miami because something like this happened on my sister’s school trip to Spain. On the way home, one of the girls lost her passport from Spain to Paris and they would not let her leave Paris. The Spanish teacher had to stay with her in Paris until one of her parents came to escort her out of the country. So even though it was bad his dog ate the passport, maybe he would have gotten stuck in Peru on the way out.
I cant believe someone wasn't lying about a dog eating something because kids usually say that to the teacher. Also something as important as a passport should be kept safe away from little kids and pets. That kid must feel bad not being able to go on such an wonderful trip. Also i wonder if they gave him his money back for the flight he could never board.
my aunt and uncle went to peru but to bad that just because of a dog, i am still thinking that why won't he blame his dog?
