Mrs. Obama pushes her "Let's Move!" initiative
First lady Michelle Obama visited Jackson, Mississippi on Wednesday and watched children play on swings and a jungle gym at a school whose programs have been lauded for fighting obesity by keeping kids active.
It was the first of her two stops in Mississippi, which ranks No. 1 in childhood and adult obesity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The first lady's visit was part of her recently announced Let's Move! campaign to promote healthy habits at schools.
"Our children are not eating properly. We have a lot of parents who don't know how to serve nutritious meals. If we could teach them to let McDonald's go, it would have a big impact," said Maggie White, who is president of the West Park Neighborhood Association, where Pecan Park Elementary is located.
The first lady's campaign on obesity has four parts: helping parents make better food choices, serving healthier food in school vending machines and lunch lines, making healthy food more available and affordable, and encouraging children to exercise more.

i think the first lady is doing a right thing, because its true many children(including audlts)are becoming over weight in the country today. If you choose to incurege children(any one)you can make them think about what they are doing with their health, and odds are that they will change even a little bit, every choose counts in their life.
Michelle Obama watched children play and be active on playgrounds in Jackson, Mississippi. She has started to fight obesity along with many other schools by her side. This playground was just one of her stops on her new "Lets move" Campaign. The First Lady's campaign has 4 parts: making parents serve healthier meals, get school lunch lines and vending machines to serve better food, and encourage the children to exercise more.
I agree with her about eating. Everyone should always eat healthy soo many people are getting sick because their eating unhealthy foods. I mean i wouldn't want to be sick because i was eating o always eat healthy and you'll be as healthy as can be.
this story is that you shouldnt be eating bad food every day u can eat it sometimes not everyday its not good with all that fat thats in there mcdonalds fries u want to be healthy not obeast.
I think it's a great idea helping the kids it just shows how much she cares about her fellow americans.
She show's that having fun can be turned into many things especially having active fun.
i agree people should get up do exercise and stop eating junk food. my teacher tells us we should be turn healthy like him. i try not to eat chips but i can not
Annalee you CAN stop eating chips if you really want to! Find some other good stuff to snack on like fruits and vegetables. At least you are thinking about making better eating choices...that's the first step!
i think that nice that Mrs. Michelle obama is trying to make a campaign to promote healthy habits at schools.do u i do alot that very kind of her.but i hope she enjoy her life and the white house.
I think its okay. It might help her and her family with the kids.It will help lots and lots of kids. When youthing about it she can do any thng because she is rich! This is what i think about this story!!!
I strongly disagree because my mom works at Wendy's and they don't just sell fast food they sell salad. Plus if you go to the grocery store they sell unhealthy foods to. Like ice cream and candy. Sure fast food sells gross fattening foods so that's it. So both sell bad foods.
