Misspelled 'SHCOOL' sign replaced in NYC
An embarrassing misspelling of "school" is gone from the street outside a New York City school building.
Utility workers used heavy machinery to grind up the wrongly placed "H'' and "C'' in the "SHCOOL X-NG" sign on Tuesday.
The correction was made a day after the New York Post reported the spelling error.
The words were created with industrial textured tape that permanently sticks to the asphalt.
The Consolidated Edison utility said the blunder occurred when a contractor ripped up the street for utility work and replaced the existing markings. It says the mistake outside the Manhattan building that houses three schools had been there since July 2010.

I think it's kind funny, but also kind of embarrassing to see that your school has the messed up sign. I feel kind of sorry for them actually.

I think it's funny/sad how they spelled "school" wrong. I mean what kind of school would do that? Just so sad........ oh well what's done is done.
This is my home town and i am very ashamed of you guys. BUt it could of just been a little mistake... writing/painting. Its good they got it fixed. Slow down when doing things..
That is funny. Whoever did this job probably should go back to school since he can't spell the word right. I can't believe it took 2 years though, to notice that the word school was spelled wrong. :)
OK now that is funny. Who was even hired for the job? They sure should of had them spell the word before putting it in permanent ink. Next I would not hire that guy.
Who can possibly mispell "school"? I mean, I mispell things sometimes, too, but I would check the spelling every time, especially on a sign that will be seen by a lot of people. The mispeller should be fired.
I think this is very awkward. They should have fired the guy who did that. I think the school must have been embarrassed for that mistake because it's a school and they should have already known this since schools are for education, but I don't think it's a big deal like people say, "Everybody makes mistakes."
That's pretty sad that they misspell school. Then again they don't need to make a huge deal of it. Everyone make mistakes and this one was one that went out to the public.
Whoops. Too bad for that person who made that mistake. They should be fired. No joke. Literally. I think that person shouldn't be paid at all. They should be fired! They should!
