The Strokes of Genius mini golf course, a fundraiser for the Barnstable Education Foundation, will remain open to the public through Aug. 15.

The nine-hole course, located on the corner of Main and Ocean streets, was set up earlier this summer to benefit the nonprofit agency, which supports public school programs not funded through tax dollars.

Built and staffed by volunteers, the course was originally scheduled to close tomorrow, but organizers were able to recruit enough volunteers to keep it open another week, according to foundation president Sheila Burns.

The course will remain open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Aug. 15, she said. "We're delighted to keep it around another week," Burns said.

"I can't tell you how many people have asked us to keep it open. ... We finally got enough volunteers and we're ready to go."
