C.J. Peeters of Brainerd and the Jamestown College men's basketball team was named to the All-Dakota Athletic Conference team.

Peeters was named to the first team and was named the league's newcomer of the year.

The junior proved to be one of the most versatile players in the DAC, averaging 16.7 points, 6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, playing basically every position on the floor.

Warrior girls' basketball game moved to Apollo

The Section 8-4A semifinal girls' basketball game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday between the third-seeded Brainerd Warriors and No. 2 Buffalo Bison has been moved to St. Cloud Apollo High School.

The game was originally scheduled for Halenbeck Hall at St. Cloud State.

Special Olympics athletes to compete at BHS

A Special Olympics Minnesota's basketball competition will take place Wednesday at Brainerd High School with opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Special Olympics Minnesota athletes from the lakes area will compete in the event.

Minnesota-Morris, Northland accept bids

Two teams from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference will be participating in the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament as the University of Minnesota-Morris and Northland College received invitations.

The schools finished 1-2 in the UMAC standings before losing in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Morris, 19-7, will travel to De Pere, Wis., to play Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Aitkin High School graduate Emily Mehr plays for the Cougars.

Northland, 18-8, will play Carthage College at Whitewater, Wis. Crosby-Ironton's Chelsea Lundgren and Sam Stanfield, Aitkin's Sara Hoge and Pierz's Mel Waytashek play for Northland.

Both games will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
