Brainerd High School to host open houses Wednesday
Brainerd High School and the South Campus will be hosting open houses from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Students and parents are invited to come in to tour the building, meet their teachers and find information about back to school. Students should take to the open house their schedules that were mailed to them. A parent meeting will be held in the BHS gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. for all parents of ninth-grade students. There will be a parent meeting for students in grades 10-12 at 7 p.m. in the BHS gymnasium.
School officially starts on Tuesday for all students in ninth and 10th grades. BHS juniors and seniors will not start school until Sept. 8.
Questions regarding South Campus can be directed to Wendy at 454-5202. Questions relating to students in grades 10-12 can be directed to Shirley at 454-6200.
Land development is the topic of Sept. 8 Chautauqua program
CROSSLAKE - "Having Our Cake and Eating it Too" is the title of the 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8 Chautauqua program at the Crosslake Community Center.
Phil Hunsicker, lakes region program director for A Thousand Friends of Minnesota, will discuss such questions as "Is it possible to develop the land and still protect it?" and "Can land use accommodate the goals of developers and conservationists?" The use of conservation design scorecards, will also be discussed.
The presentation is free.
