Lady Gaga discusses anti-bullying at White House
Lady Gaga visited the White House on Tuesday to discuss bullying prevention.
The pop singer met with Obama administration staffers on the issue and afterward, Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett praised the star as "a source of strength for many young people who feel isolated and scared at their schools."
"Lady Gaga has described this cause as a personal one — she has said that as a child, she was often picked on for being different," Jarrett wrote in a blog post on the White House website. "I am deeply moved by the way she has used her story, and her success, to inspire young people, and shine the spotlight on important issues."
Gaga didn't have a chance to meet with President Barack Obama, who was traveling in Kansas for a speech on the economy.
But the two have met before, when the singer attended a fundraiser for Obama's re-election campaign in California earlier this year.
Gaga was spotted by news crews as she exited the White House grounds Tuesday afternoon dressed all in white, including sky-high white heels, with her long blond hair down.
The White House held an anti-bullying conference earlier this year, and the administration estimates that bullying affects 13 million students, or about a third of those attending school. Jarrett said the administration looked forward to supporting Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, to explore how to change the culture and policies around children in school.

thank god for someone who will take action for bullying. i love it how only one person will take action there is a million singers out there and none of them do anything but really thank god for lady gaga because she is the only one to step up and do something
i think that lady gaga is a terrible influence on children. just listen to her songs. they are so imoral. kids do not need to take advice from a worldly person like her. i think that lady gaga thinks to much of herself.
Lady Gaga had a right to do what she did and she did it proudly!! Did you know that Lady Gaga had a eating disorder called bulimia. Bulimia is eating disorder where you overeat then throw it up so you don't gain weight. She did that just because she got bullied. It was the same with Demi Lovato. She took a stand for it. And Lady Gaga was right we BORN THIS WAY. Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus yes you heard me Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato started a campaign called LOVE IS LOUD. The whole thing was LOVE IS LOUDER THAN THE PRESSURE TO BE PERFECT!!! I totally agree!! Do You? :) :) :)
That was really nice of Lady Gaga to do that because I was bullied and it hurt. She had a right to say what she said. Because bulling hurts and people shouldn't do that to other kids. It leaves you with nightmares and you're afraid of school. Who wants to be afraid of school? School is a place where you can make friends! Best friends!! I know I've made my best friend there, will you? But bullies just ruin the fun for us all. DON'T BE A BULLY BE A FRIEND!! BULLING HURTS SO DON'T DO IT!!!
I think it's really nice of lady gaga to talk about bullying . Bullying is the worst thing ever in this world. I think president obama and we people should decided what to do to stop bullying . Everybody need to be treated the same and have the same respect as other. IT doesn't matter what you looks like, dress like, and the color of your skin, it matter that we have equal rights.
I think that its so nice that lady gaga is doing this. I hate bullying and people bullying. I don't think that Ive ever bullied anyone. This is life changing to people. For anyone who is bullied, stand up for yourself and be proud of yourself that you did that. If you know anyone that gets bullied by someone else, tell someone like an adult or guardian. This is a great article
I think it’s really cool that Lady Gaga went to the White House to talk about bullying. She was a “weird” kid growing up and got made fun of all the time. I’m sure she had those days where she just didn't want to go to school, but she stayed strong and carried out her dreams. Today, she is incredibly successful and she’s living her dream. All those kids that made fun of her as a child are probably regretting everything they ever said. It just goes to show you that you should get to know somebody before you start making fun of them and judging them. No one should have to worry about getting hurt at school, or anywhere else for that matter! You should never try to hurt someone. Teenagers sometimes think it’s funny to bully weird or unpopular people (like in Gaga’s story), but bullying is getting ridiculous! Kids are committing suicide because they hate getting up in the morning and worrying what names they’ll be called today, or who will else will make fun of them. People just need to treat everyone with respect, whether you like them or not.
I think that it's such a good thing for Lady Gaga to be so anti- bullying. Lady Gaga is an an extremely popular music icon, therefore anything she has to say is definitely heard. Her discussing bullying helps spread the word about how wrong it is and helps more people understand how they can prevent or stop it from happening. She knows from personal experience that bullying does happen and that it can become very serious.
I did not know lady gaga did a announcement at the White House about bullying.I'am happy that some famous people in this world are stopping bullying in America. We need it to stop the bullying really bad because we are now having more shootings in schools in America. Also I just can't imagine that happening here at Tri- county north middle school in Lewisburg, Ohio.
I think it's nice that someone that popular and big cares about bullying, it is a very big issue around the world. Since she is famous people might pay more attention and start making a difference. People like her can really make an impact on stuff like that.
