Junk food + laziness = headaches If you're constantly reaching for Advil, you might want to put the chips down and get off the couch. A new study by Norwegian researchers shows that unhealthy teens have significantly more headaches than their healthy and active peers.

According to the findings, excess weight, inactivity, and smoking are all unhealthy behaviors that increase the risk of recurring headaches. Those who exhibit more of those behaviors also tend to report more frequent headaches.

The study involved nearly 6,000 junior high and high school students living in the same Norwegian county from 1995 to 1997, and showed that one-third of the participants were fairly inactive, one-fifth were smokers and one-sixth were overweight. Compared to the healthy lifestyle group, the students reported 20-50 percent more headaches, especially as their factors increased.

So what's the point? Well, the research implies that lifestyle has a lot to do with headaches, whether they're recurrent, migraine, or tension-type. This means that instead of popping an over-the-counter pill, staying active, eating better and not lighting up could help keep those painful throbbing moments away. Sounds like a no-brainer, right?

WOW! My brother is just like him. I think this boy should go outside and play. If that was me i would at least move from that chair. And i think he wears the same shirt and pants everyday.

I think that this article is teaching a good lesson about eating junk food and being lazy. I agree with the article that you might get a headache if you do do this. There is a good lesson in this article, and I think that if you do eat junk food you should only eat it once in a while. I have gotten a headache before, and trust me, you do not want one! I agree with the article, that if you are constantly reaching for Advil then you should put your chips down and get off the couch.

that is bad for your health. and i realy dont think that advil is for kids. i think that ,that is only for adults. kids shouldnt just eat junk food all day. that is very unhealthy for people. if you eat junk food all day you are going to look a obese looking monster. my opinion for some children is to eat less junk food and eat more healthy foods. for example vegetables like carrots corn and other things that have proteins in them. i am not saying that you shouldnt eat junk food just dont eat it all of the time. you can eat it every once in a while.

I dont think being lazy creates headaches, because when I get headaches all I wanna do is be lazy. But sometimes eating junk food gives me a headache. And I dont think that everyone knows you can get headaches from it. I agree that sometimes all you gotta do is put the junk food down, and get outside.

What do they mean by headaches all the time? I got headaches every now and then but that doesn't make me lazy. I agree that people should try to stay active and not be poppin pills all day.

I totally agree that junk food + laziness = headaches. It is true that kids who like to move around are healthier. This article shows large percentage of teens are inactive, smokers or overweight. These are all unhealthy behaviors that can cause headache. To avoid it, teens need to reduce TV hours and do more outdoor activities, or go to gym on regular basis.

We have alot of problems about childhood obeasity, smoking in some teens. A large amount of high school students already smoke. These are two problems to that REALLY NEED TO GET FIXED!!!!!

This isn't a real shocker. IF you are lazy you get fat. If you get fat you want to not eat to blame it on the fat. When you don't eat some peolpe somke. When you smoke your all at risk. not really a big shocker.
