Even tough New Yorkers won't mess with zombies
As if the morning commute wasn't odd enough, intrepid New Yorkers trying to make their way to work on Tuesday had to battle past hordes of the walking dead.
Two dozen zombies, their clothes spattered with fake blood, were staggering up and down the block outside Madison Square Garden. Downtown, others shuffled across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Some pedestrians looked startled or amused by the ghost-white actors with bruised-looking eyes. Some people ignored them entirely. Others whipped out their cell phone cameras.
Horror movie fan Linda Emery was thrilled to see the creatures.
"I'm into zombies, anything with zombies," said the 58-year-old home care provider from Brooklyn. It made a change from her usual commute.
Erik Machado, an audio engineer heading to work in New Jersey, was unfazed and passed by the scene with nary a glance at the nightmares walking around.
"Gotta commute, gotta go where I gotta go," the Queens resident said.
The stunt was part of a campaign in 26 cities worldwide promoting the Halloween premiere of the AMC television series "The Walking Dead." The show is being broadcast outside of the United States on Fox International Channels.
At one point, about 15 zombies crawled on the roof, hood and trunk of a parked, off-duty taxi.
Taxi driver David Pollack managed to escape from the horde, scrambling out of the back seat, playing along with the drama of it all.
"I think I'm going to be walking over the George Washington Bridge and heading over to Jersey, hopefully they haven't gotten there yet," he said.
He added, "I'm a tough New Yorker, but I don't mess with zombies."

okkkkkkkk... that would be really strange- waking up to a street FILLED with the creepy, old, dead, people. YIKES!!!!!!!!!! well... if it was fora premere for a show then I would agree to that but climbing on a roof of a taxi----- YEESH!!!!!!!!!!
I think it sounds pretty cool. These people actually looked sort of real. Hopefully they did not scare any babies on their hunt for brains. LOL.
This actually sounds pretty stupid. You would probably get run over if you were slowly walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Also, tons of people would be taking pictures of you and that would become annoying.
I think that is just weird. why would people dress up as Zombies just for a TV show premiere? Though, I do wonder, did they pretend to actually pretend to eat people, because that would be awesome to watch.
I think that it would have been cool if I would have to seen them, but if it was for real zombies I would probably freak out and try to run to church for protection.
I wish I was there. I would could just walk through there and look all tough and stuff. this article is super cool. to bad they weren't real though. then I would probably punch one in the face and run. I bet my brother would freak out and run as fast as he could.
See, my whole family and all their friends are from New York, so although I'm Floridian, I know how to be a New Yorker. I'm such a freak that this would have been normal to me. Personally I would've been one of those people to get out their phones or play along with them. So awesome!
That is not cool that is just so gross that they have blood all over there shirt and why would there be any zombie in new York any way or at any place.
That's just not normal! ^__^ I would've loved to be there, I would've been scared for a second then I'll just go with it! New York is very unique. Why can't this happen in Texas?!
That is so weird that they do this just to promote a show. It really is weird that people dressed up like zombies and climbed on cars and roofs.
