"Glee" star teaches safe texting
LG Mobile Phones is adding a dose of humor to its responsible texting efforts. The company has signed Emmy nominee and "Glee" standout Jane Lynch to star in a series of videos to discuss how to model responsible texting behaviors to kids.
The videos, which are being posted on www.LGTextEd.com, depict Lynch as a former "text offender" who gets scared straight and turns to educating others about issues such as texting while driving, mobile bullying and other behaviors.
The introductory video takes a Hollywood scandal-type approach, proclaiming Lynch as being on top of the world with fame, money and power, but that she "had a dark secret she could no longer hide." The video then cuts to Lynch talking and texting while being chased by cops. She is eventually arrested in a "fall from grace that had all the makings of a made-for-the-Internet movie." Her punishment, according to the video, is community service in teaching parents about mobile phone abuse and teen texting issues.
Subsequent videos -- there are five in all -- put Lynch, who stars on "Glee" as the witty-but-withering Sue Sylvester, in a classroom-style setting, where she counsels others in the relatively acerbic manner for which she has become famous.

I think this is a great idea. I'd definitely watch it. It sounds funny and interesting and very helpful. I don't understand why teens always use their phones to bully someone and tell them off. If I'm going to say something mean to someone, I'd say it to their face. Saying it over text, or on the computer just makes them sound like a coward.
I think that teaching tweens, teens, adults, and kids about bullying is a great idea. As my family says "The earlier you start learning about bullying the more aware you will be about it." In this case bullying by text and cyber-bullying are very dangerous, here are some examples: someone could post something very negative and send the message, "Your different and everyone doesn't like you because of that." That could make someone so devastated that they could hurt themselves or even commit suicide. That makes me sick to my stomach! I think that Jane Lynch doing those videos about bullying is a fantastic idea, because I think that the bully's might stop bullying by phone or really anything because a T.V star told them how wrong it is. So that's my opinion about any kind of bullying but especially phone bullying, what's yours?
thats good what she is doing, because people love her from glee, and people will listen, my frinde loves that show and she watches it everytime it comes, and she also has all their cds.
Yet another form of advertisement. Glee is a good show, all the stuff that happens on the show is pretty realistic. I guess you could say I am a bit of a "Gleek" or that's what my mom calls me. I think it's nice that they're having Jane Lynch do this commercial. Think about it, how many kids or teens do you know that have been hurt or suicidal because of texting. I don't own a phone so I can't text. But, you really need to take into consideration people's feelings, and your actions. I guess they chose Jane because she is a well love character on Glee, and that will grab the attention of the viewers. So great, I'm glad they're doing this.
OMG! I LOVE GLEE! hehe imma "gleek" well i guess iv'e always thought her mean-ish (because of her character) but i guess she's really nice and sweet at heart. i kinda glad she is doing this kind of stuff! it's a good influence i guess.....
id like this too but its no fair because other people get to text in class but we dont where we live i say shut down the school and no texting in school!!!
That's the way to go! Make teaching lessons funny, it's how kids will listen and understand better. When it's funny, the chances of them remembering better are very high. That's what every teacher should do.
I love glee. Its my favorite T.V. show ever! I think its great that shes teaching kids about safe texting and I'm sure she added a comedic spin on it.
Jane Lynch, a star of Glee, has been making texting while driving safety videos, along with videos about other safety topics. The video starts with her being chased by cops, talking, and texting. She then gets arrested, and her community service she has to do is teaching adults and children that it is unsafe to text in certain situations.
I'm a little confused. Did Lynch actually get arrested? I'm pretty sure she didn't. Anyways, I find it interesting that her, of all people, would do this. If she DIDN'T get arrested, I think it is kind of her to be making a difference in the community.
Actress, Jane Lynch, is teaching kids how to be safe texters. She is also teaching them how to not to text while driving and to not bully over texts. I think that this is a good idea because some kids can be really horrible when they text because they could possibly swear and say inapropriate things and parents dont even know what kids are doing or saying.
