Fan pays thousands for Tom Brady game jersey A football jersey that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady wore in an NFL game has sold for $46,000 at an auction in Indianapolis.

Hunt Auctions says an anonymous bidder bought the 2011 game jersey at The Super Bowl XLVI Live Auction in Indianapolis on Saturday, tripling the item's presale estimated value.

Brady wore the jersey during the Oct. 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Patriots lost to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl on Sunday in Indianapolis.

In its fourth year, the auction is an annual event produced by Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions in partnership with NFL Auction and the NFL Players. A portion of the auction proceeds benefit NFL Charities.

Paying that much money is totally ridiculous for a Tom Brady game jersey. I personally think that because I am a HUGE NFL fan but I don't like Tom Brady. I wouldn't even pay that much for anybody's clothes know matter if it goes from a poor person to the most popular person in the entire world. If you had that kind of money to pay for a jersey you should be dong something else with it.

That amount to spend on a fancy shirt is ridiculous. I understand that anything worn by a famous person is expensive. Although the shirt is expensive I cant imagine any article of clothing, famous or not, selling for 46,000. It is good that a portion of the auction proceeds went to NFL charities.

I'm a die hard fan of Tom Brady and the patriots. In my opinion the best team in the NFL. I know they lost the Superbowl to the giants but in 2007 they went 18-1 the best record in NFL history. I think the patriots can go 19-0 this season. I know big prediction but that's what i think. And also i would buy Tom Brady's jersey even if it was thousands of dollars. Think when will you ever get a ligate NFL jersey.

This is crazy. 46,000 for just a jersey. Although Brady is pretty cool come one id pay 20 bucks for a jersy at Khol's. Actualy iwouldnt i hate spending money

That's awesome , Tom Brady being on my favorite football team and seeing his Superbowl jersey go for that much just amazes me. I thought i was obsessed with the patriots guess not as much as this bidder . I think 46,000 is an awesome price since a portion of it proceeds to go to charities.

That's insane! I don't know anybody who would pay $46,000 even though they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.The Baltimore Ravens are really good so I'm not suprised.
