Doggie down! Dachshund dives deep Any dachshund owner knows the feisty breed rarely backs off from a challenge, but one in Russia is taking that reputation to new heights — or depths.

The dog named Boniface is learning how to scuba dive.

Owner Sergei Gorbunov, a professional diver in the Pacific Coast city of Vladivostok had a diving suit complete with helmet made for the dog and is teaching him the tricks of the trade.

In a recent demonstration, Boniface barked eagerly as Gorbunov readied the equipment and uncomplainingly endured being hung upside-down as Gorbunov fitted the suit on him.

Once underwater, he seemed to have a different outlook, emitting some high-pitched whines.

Gobunov says, "Underwater, I don't think he experiences any stress."

That dog should get an award for what he is doing in the world. He is brave and nothing is better than a dog saving people.

It is probably a bad idea because he will chase the fish. Why would they teach him to scuba dive if he is whining when they put him in the water.

I seriously wish that I could take my dog scubadiving one day, that would be amazing. Having a dog with me would make me feel safer.

Why would you put a dog underwater? What purpose would be served putting this dog underwater? Cool, I guess, but like, it's a dog. I would scuba dive with a dog.

That is great i wish i could teach my dog scuba diving because my pug is very energetic. I think my dog would be a bad scuba diver though because she has a very stubby nose and can't breath good. I would like going under water i think because the wet suits would be awesome because you can't get cold that easy. It is great that your dog is that great he must be very obedient you are very good with dogs.

Wow, I think it's pretty cool that a Dachshund could scuba dive. This is pretty cool. I wonder if my Basset Hound could scuba dive if I taught him, because that would be pretty cool, too.

that is SO cool i have 2 miniature dachshunds and i wish they could scuba dive if my dogs could scuba dive they would be teaching me how to scuba dive that is so cool!

I never knew that a dog could scuba dive! That is amazing, I wish I could train my dog to do that! I wonder how the dogs can see if they breath and it gets all foggy inside their tank?I mean, does the owner help the dog or what? The diver must have gone down with him.
