"Darth Vader" swears in NY sheriff friend Not every county sheriff gets to be sworn in by the voice of Darth Vader.

Actor James Earl Jones performed that duty Thursday for his longtime friend and neighbor Adrian "Butch" Anderson, the sheriff in Dutchess County, N.Y., where Jones lives.

Anderson's fourth term as sheriff in the Hudson Valley county began with Jones administering the oath of office in place of a judge.

Jones told about 250 attendees at the ceremony in the town of Poughkeepsie (poh-KIHP'-see) that his many movie roles included playing a judge in "Sommersby," a 1993 post-Civil War film that starred Richard Gere and Jodie Foster.

Jones provided the voice for the Darth Vader character in the original "Star Wars" trilogy. His deep, distinctive voice also was featured in Disney's animated film, "The Lion King."

I did not know that Darth Vader's voice wasn't computer generated. That must be cool to have a voice like that. If I was a sheriff I would definitely want to be sworn in by the voice of Darth Vader. It must be pretty cool that you even know the real Darth Vader. I also didn't know that his voice was used in the Lion King. He's lucky to have a voice like that.

I think this is cool that Darth Vader's voice is real, I always thought is was computer generated. Also, I never knew that his voice was in the Lion King. Interseting!

Miranda, he also was in a great movie about baseball called "Field of Dreams", and he is the voice that says "This is CNN". He's one of my favorites! :)

This is cool because I always thought that the earth vader voice were computer generated. I also did not know that he did the lion king voice to. I also think its cool that he swears in his sheriff friend.

I know nothing about darth vador nor am I a fan of his. Not all that interested in star wars. But I know people that are crazy about star wars and think that this would be a great experience for them.

Darth Vader is the beast Who cares if he swears. Everyone on the earth will swear once in there life. So go James Earl you are the best. I mean I love his work you should not do anything about it. LAST IS I DO NOT LIKE NY VERY MUCH .
