Could your school win Barack Obama?

Could your school win Barack Obama? Coming to a high school graduation near you: President Barack Obama. Maybe.

The White House and the Education Department are giving public high schools the opportunity to compete to have the president speak at their commencement ceremony this spring. The winning school must demonstrate how it's helping prepare students to meet Obama's goal of the U.S. having the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.

"Public schools that encourage systemic reform and embrace effective approaches to teaching and learning help prepare America's students to graduate ready for college and a career," Obama said in a video announcing the competition, called The Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge.

Obama has called for a boost in federal spending on education, including the $4.35 billion Race to the Top competitive grant program created by the economic stimulus act. States must compete for a share of the money. For some, that means changing education laws and striking deals with teachers unions to bring their systems in line with Obama's vision of education reform, which includes linking student test scores to teacher performance.

I think that he should be doing some thing more helpful to our nation than trying to gain votes from young adults for his next election, I think that would be cool if President Barack Obama would come and speak at your school why you know how he does his job.The students might try to get better grades to.What do you think should he come and speak to the students?I hope we could I would absolutely love to have him our school he's a great president because he tries to get involved. And does that exact thing! Go Barack Obama.

I think that he should be doing some thing more helpful to our nation than trying to gain votes from young adults for his next election, I wouldnt want him to come anyway.

I would like for our school to win the competition. Because Obama will speak at our graduation i would love to meet him. If i could see Obama in person i would faint.

Some of Claremont Middle School students went to a D.C. trip. I think only about 10 people went to the D.C. trip. Some people were invited but they did not go.

I think it would be awesome if we see him in person or even talk to him... so the way he can talk to us and wake up us about life!

I think it would be nice to see him in person, so it could be cool if our school won Barack Obama and also if he can make some changes around our school!

OK I'm sick and tired of Obama. I'm sorry but I am. Obviously I'm a full on republican and I believe in very different things than Obama. I do totally disagree with this whole school all summer thing but I'm talking deeper. LOTS of people are saying that he wasn't even born in the U.S. So is he illegal?I'm not raciest or anything but it seems to me like he doesn't know a thing about our country!!! I am proud to be an American and it seems to me like he's taking the whole "land of the free and the home of the brave" thing all away. He wants to turn America in to a Muslim country, I don't have anything against Muslims or anything but all I'm saying that freedom of religion seems to be slipping out of our hands. He recently passed a new health care bill in which i strongly disagree with for several reasons, but I mostly disagree with his idea of hiring our taxes and giving it to families or people less fortunate and sometimes(not always) known as people who are too lazy to get a high school degree and go to college and get a job! right now our taxpayers money is going to funds to build roads and to build new schools, etc. At least now we know where our money is going! How do you know that your hard urned money wont be going to a person who has an opportunity to go tho college or get a job but doesn't choose to because they think its a waste of they're precious time! And in other cases there is a family who has a job or cant get a job for whatever reason and can't pay for themselves or they're families. now that's different I would support a family like that but I wouldn't be happy if I found out that MY tax money was going to a lazy bum!!! I could go on and on about this! I dint like how Obama campaigned either, he made all of these good premises to us and played many of you! He promised change, but who ever said it would be good change?Arizona also recently passed a law that police have the right to ask someone for they're ID to prove that they are a legal citizen of the U.S. if they have any reason to think that they are there illegally. I'm surprised that Obama hasn't stuck his nose into this one too, I thought he would get his way again. I actually don't know if he agrees with this new law but I think that someone should rethink this law. And how others think of it. NOT GOOD CHANGE SO FAR!!!!!!!!

Well I think that the high schoolers should have a chance for Barack O"bama to come to their school and who knows these good kids deserve to have him there.

I hope we could I would absolutely love to have him our school he's a great president because he tries to get involved. And does that exact thing! Go Barack Obama <3!
