Colbert prepares run to run the nation
Stephen Colbert isn't running for president — at least not yet.
During taping of the Thursday night episode of "The Colbert Report," he legally transferred his super political action committee to his friend and Comedy Central cohort Jon Stewart. Dropping by from "The Daily Show," Stewart happily signed the super PAC documents and accepted the post.
The move potentially paves the way for Colbert to enter the Republican presidential primary in South Carolina, his home state. Campaigning politicians are prohibited from simultaneously running a super PAC.
But Colbert only hinted at such a decision. In true potential candidate form, he announced he's forming "an exploratory committee" to consider whether he would run for president of "the United States of South Carolina."
Colbert memorably attempted to run in the primary in the 2008 election.

I don't think he should run because he was rude to Congress to their face. Also, I don't think anyone will vote for him because he won't take it seriously.
I think he is brave. I think it is a little to late to get involved in the race but if he can so it then i wish him luck. I also like how he attempted to run in the 2008 election. That shows me that even though he falls, he is not afraid to get back up and try again.
I love how he did this. It shows just how screwed up our political system is. When I first saw him getting his SuperPac I was amazed, I was sure he would be stopped at some point. I really think that we need to clean out our political system, it is so corrupt with big business and money in general that if you have enough money you can do just about anything.
I think I have heard of this guy, man, sir, male, whatever you want to call him, in maybe Current Event magizines for the Current Events happening's. And I may have saw him somewhere in there for being president cause the rest either quit, gave up, or got voted out,. he may be the strongest in there...
WOW i can't believe that stephen Colbert is running for president that sounds like a good idea.I have watched his television show at comedy central its so funny.Once he made funny of the song friday. He would make a good president.
I chose the article "Colbert Prepares to Run the Nation." However, he isn't running for president-yet. He has a show called "The Colbert Report," and he has thought about being the president...of South Carolina.
He has legally transported his action committee to the other Comedy Central friend, Jon Stewart. He gladly signed the super PAC documents. He now plans to enter the republican primary in South Carolina.
Colbert is one of my favorite TV stars, and I hope he succeeds. His home state, South Carolina, is routing for him. Clobert says, "I hope one day I become president of the United States of South Carolina."
Colbert for president. Great idea. He would be the best president. My reasoning: Colbert isn't some idiot, or a terrible person, nor is he one who would be bad at taking care of America. Colbert is just what we need.
I haven't heard much about this guy, let along know much about him. If he is going to run for president then I think they should make him known. Before I decide who I want to be president I like to know about the candidates. I'm not 18 yet, but I still like to know about the person who will be running the country I live in. Plus, politics interest me and I like to know more about them.
I think that Stephen Colbert is hilarious. I enjoy watching his show and his “Papa Bear Bill O’Riely” persona is really good. Although, in my opinion, Colbert has little chance of winning, he has the potential to win votes. I think that in America today, TV personalities may be better known by people than some real candidates. While Colbert has little chance of winning, he does have the power to sway the election by taking votes away from other candidates.
I dont think Colbert would be good candidate for this, but on the other hand he does have good political views. Colbert does not only think of helping the state but because hes not some millionaire he thinks of the general public, and I bet he knows how bad the economy can be for a regular person.
