Changes with Gmail, IM, FB: Are you confused?

Changes with Gmail, IM, FB: Are you confused? Google Inc. opened a new social hub in its e-mail service on Tuesday.

The new Gmail channel, called Google Buzz, includes many of the features that have turned Facebook into the Web's top spot for fraternizing with friends and family.

It comes less than a week after Facebook made changes of its own. Among other things, Facebook now shows a list of friends available for chatting on the left side of the page, similar to where Gmail now displays its chat feature. The Google Buzz features won't reach all of Gmail's estimated 176 million users worldwide for several more days. A link to the service will appear on the top left of the page, in a prominent position just under Gmail's inbox tab.

Like Facebook, Google Buzz will let Gmail users post updates about what they are doing or thinking and share those with the rest of the world or with only a select group of people. Gmail users also will be able to track other people's updates and instantly comment on them for everyone else in the social circle to see.

Meanwhile, AOL is letting users of its AIM instant-messaging service chat with friends on Facebook.

AOL said Wednesday that a new version of AIM connects with the instant-messaging function on Facebook's Web site, letting AIM users communicate with friends who are logged on to the social network and available to chat.

Once an AIM user downloads the new software and links it with their Facebook profile, their buddy list will include a list of online Facebook friends.

I love Google and Gmail and everything and I think this would be awesome and I really like the name Google Buzz way more than Facebook in a way but I don't think it can top Facebook. The next thing to top Facebook is going to be something really new and great and probably invented by some kid who loves computers like I do. But it's kind of coping when you take similar things from one site and put it one your own so Google Buzz might be coping.

Some people might know. I am a hardcore Google User, whether it is Mail from Google, or Google Translate or even Google Search. The other search engines such as Bing. Have copied off of Google's search system. Google, has been making improvements to its system and I can't wait to see what the final product will be, because whatever it is, it will be better.

i would like to get on g mail all the time so i can look up what i need to find cause it will show you all kinds of crazy things that you can make up

Yes I am confused. Facebook is changing so much. I mean cant they just slow down for while? A lot of the new stuff is confusing and very frusterating.

Yes! Facebook is changing all the time. And it is really hard to get used to it all the time. They should just stick with the changes they have made for a while.

i think it was smart to tell people about this serten jewelry to worn people about thes things now im going to think twice about what im puting nere my mouth

I think its cool now how its like facebook and you can post statuses and upload pictures and talk to your friends, but u shouldnt copy other websites espasaully if it's just an email website.

Well maybe people want to be sleepy. Well some people are so lazy like that. So never tell some lazy person to go get some sun light. Thats just messed up right there!!!!!!

I don't agree that YOU want to make changes in gmail or fb because i like facebook and gmail and you can use these websites to talk to your family that is far away from you.

I think this is a dumb idea. You just can't go around copying other websites to improve yours. I have a Gmail, and i don't like how it is set up at all! If people wanted something like Facebook, the answer is to get a FACEBOOK. GOOGLEBUZZ, that sounds really lame if you ask me. When i go to my email, I want to see my emails, not posts or information on other people.
