Cat inherits $13 million from owner
A rescued alley cat can live like a fat cat after inheriting $13 million from his owner.
Maria Assunta, a 94-year-old widow and heiress from Italy, left her 10 million euro fortune plus several properties scattered across Europe to her 4-year-old kitty, Tommaso, according to London's Daily Telegraph.
The wealthy widow, who died two weeks ago, originally wanted to leave her fortune to an animal welfare association that would commit to looking after Tommaso. But when Assunta's lawyers couldn't find a group that lived up to her standards, she instead drew up a will in November 2009 leaving her estate to Tommaso through a nurse named Stefania, according to the Telegraph.
Stefania, who cared for Assunta in her final months, had promised she would look after the cat and make sure he was loved after her patient died. Stefania told the Telegraph she had no clue Assunta was so wealthy.
"She was very discreet," Stefania said. "I knew very little of her private life. She only told me that she had suffered from loneliness a lot."
Tommaso, Stefania and another cat now live in a house outside Rome.

its crazy that someone will put 13 millon Dollars into his pet cat. it just shows how much that person cared about there pet cat thats alot of love!
wow.just....wow.when i die i would either leave my money to my kids or to a charity or something.NOT TO A CAT!i mean who does that????i mean seriously what does a cat have to buy?meow mix isn't THAT expensive, lol
:)
This makes nooooo sense, the cat can't do anything with it and won't ever be about too. They could have donated it to a cause that would help people.
Lucky cat! Tommaso must be happy that, even though his owner recently died, he has a new owner and cat friend. His owner must have loved him very much to leave him that much money.
I think she only did this because she had no one in her life. She never had that love and compassion so she decided to give it to the one thing that kind of did in a way to her cat. Which I feel very sad for her.
she was very discreet and shes an alley cat duh why wouldn't someone care for this scary cool kitty and i think she is an absoultly cute kitty
If Maria has a million dollars she could do way more than giving it to a cat. If she was a millionare she could've gave the money to charity or people that are in need of food and supplies. It is selfish of Maria assunt t o give a cat that cant even use the money well other poeple are dieing of starvation.
According to the Associated Press, in December, 2011, a rescued alley cat can live like a fact cat after inheriting 13 million from his owner. This is important because is a lot of money to inheriting.
This is just not right. But sense the little kitty suffered from loneliness, now it can buy another kitty for company, it'll defiantly have enough money for that! Really I don't understand this.
If Maria Assunta was a millionaire, I think she made the wrong choice, because a lot of the money could have been used for other things, such as helping the people who need the money. The little amount of money that was left over could go towards the cat, and still would have fed it, watered it, given it a nice home, paid for some toys to play with, and help the new owner. That is what I would have done with the money if I had over 10 million dollars and I died.
