Can money buy you happiness?

Can money buy you happiness? They say money can't buy happiness. They're wrong — at least up to a point.

People's emotional well-being - happiness - increases along with their income up to about $75,000, researchers report in Tuesday's edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Happiness got better as income rose but the effect leveled out at $75,000, Deaton said. On the other hand, their overall sense of success or well-being continued to rise as their earnings grew beyond that point.

"Giving people more income beyond 75K is not going to do much for their daily mood ... but it is going to make them feel they have a better life," said a researcher.

Not surprisingly, someone who moves from a $100,000-a-year job to one paying $200,000 realizes an improved sense of success. That doesn't necessarily mean they are happier day to day, Deaton said.

The results were similar for other measures. For example, people were really happier on weekends, but their deeper sense of well-being didn't change.

Kahneman, a Nobel Prize winning psychologist, and Deaton undertook the study to learn more about economic growth and policy.

Overall, the researchers said, "as in other studies of well-being, we found that most people were quite happy and satisfied with their lives."

Comparing their life-satisfaction results with those of other countries, the researchers said the United States ranked ninth after the Scandinavian countries, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland and New Zealand.

The research was supported by the Gallup Organization and the National Institute on Aging.

Money can buy you happiness to an extent. It makes it where you can have more material things. It also makes it where you can go on more vacations. Which makes you think you are happy. on the other hand, you may feel happy at time but not happy at others because of something else.

I don't think money can buy happiness. I do think that it can relieve stress and take away a lot of worries with taking care of medical needs and the children not having to starve or not have clean clothes or food to eat because parents won't get paid until the end of the week even when there are two parents in one home.

They say that money can buy you happines but I think that is not real. Money can only buy food and thing that people ned. But the way I see it is that is impossible that money can buy you. Money is money is cant do anything at all well it help to buy food for your family. But that is all that money can do to help you. So the way that I see it is that money cant buy you happines or you. :-)

ugh yes money can i'm not trying to sound rude or anthing but my parents have money And it might not be happpy for somethings but when my parents get something or i get something i get really happy and when u have money and when u need it iots just like yay (:

money hmm ilove money and gets me what i want but i rather have family and freinds then money money to mee can get u spoiled and a brat so yah

Money is a great thing to have and it gets you what you really need or want, but it can not buy happiness at all. Money only buys things and sometimes it isn't always be about the money. When you're in a relationship your only thing is just to be happy with each other, and how great it feels to be in a relationship. But when something goes wrong and he asks you, "Do you want money and would that make you happy?" It really doesn't, because money doesnt buy happiness. It's the person you're with that's there to keep you happy.

I think that money can or could bring you happiness I mean if I had lots of money I would be happy. Why not? Money buys thing, like food, plates, silver ware, tv's, schooling, I mean what else is there we could not live without money.

Money can not buy you happiness. Some people think it can but it can't what makes you happy is your family money doesn't buy you happiness.

I believe that money can buy happiness. Although people always argue that it can buy intangible things like emotions or friends, but if you have a lot of money people will want to be your friends, as horrible as it sounds, and along with them will come the emotions that were missing before. Also, it's been proven that the more money you make, the happier your life is because more things will be available to you and your standard of living will increase. It is beneficial to everyone around you.

In my opinion, money can buy me and millions of other people happiness. Money can get you basically anything you want. If I was a billionaire I would ditch this cold winter season and go to Hawaii in a private jet, if I had the money for it. I also would get home schooled instead of getting up every day to go to school, when I could get my own personal lesson and have the time to fully learn and understand it. Plus 95% of everything in the world costs something. With money you will defiantly have food on the table, a nice house, a life, and the ability to help people in need like the poor or the people starving out there. Seriously, there is nothing money can’t do but make a smile.
