Boy Scouts prepare for 100th birthday in Va. The Boy Scouts of America are preparing to celebrate their 100th anniversary with a national jamboree in Virginia.

More than 46,000 Boy Scouts, leaders, staff and volunteers from around the world are expected at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, which starts Monday. Organizers also expect around 250,000 visitors.

Scouts ages 12 to 18 will spend 10 days doing everything from archery and fishing to robotics and testing their own DNA.

The group has held the event at the Fort A.P. Hill Army base every four years since 1981. It skipped a year so the event could mark the organization's 100th anniversary. The Boy Scouts have hosted the gathering since 1937.

Organizers plan to move the event to a permanent site in West Virginia in 2013.

that is weird because it is so dome. We have a better troop then them. troop 110 is so much better then the troop over there.

I went to the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia. I stayed at Fort A.P. Hill Army Base. First we went to Washington, D.C. for a tour. The we meet all of the 46,000 other scouts at Fort A.P. Hill. It was really hot and we were outside all the time. We even slept in tents. I went to get ice cream everyday. I got to do some funy things. I scuba dived for the first time. I learned how to throw a knife. I boarded down a mountain. I fell off the mountain. We had a lot of fun. I saw scouts from Sweden, Egypt, and Japan.

* one cool thing is that this is the 100Th anniversary for boy scouts
* another cool thing is that the boy scouts are having a jamboree

I think this is cool because I am a boy scout and we do nothing as cool as this and I am not actually a boy scout I am a cub scout and a cub scout is just the same but we do not do jamboree's like these (boy scouts)we just play with leather, craftsman stuff, and we do stuff like wood shop but we don't work with wood we work with leather and make hats but we didn't work with hats yet .

I used to be in boy scouts. I loved it and I want to join again. I can't believe it has been around for that long.

Ah, Boy Scouts. That word brings back pleasant memories. They've come so far, providing service to the community and bettering the well-being of our grand United States of America. They have been cleaning, saving lives, hiking, and earning merit badges(my favorite part) for over one-hundred years now. This is truly an organization to remember. My only regret is leaving the Boy Scouts before I got twenty-five merit badges.................However, I have accomplished many other goals over the years and am proud to have once been among the valiant Boy Scouts. -A.H.

I am a Boy Scout and I think it is awesome. I think it is great that the Boy Scout's are celebrating 100 years of scouting. I would love to go to the National Jamboree but that is a little too far away for me to travel.

I'm in boy scouts and I also think that its cool for Boy Scouts to be around for 100 years. If you join boy scouts you can see how the uniforms have changed. The best part is the summer camp at !! You also once you get your swimming merit badge you can swim in the huge lake.
