Beaver allowed to behave like a beaver A beaver that has settled in a Maryland city park can stay despite chewing down trees.

Officials in Salisbury say the state Department of Natural Resources has recommended the beaver should be allowed to stay in a creek in the park, where it appeared last fall. It is toppling trees by chewing through their trunks as part of its winter food supply.

State game management official Pete Jayne said that beavers can stay in one place for years, depending on how much food is available.

The nearby Salisbury Zoo has two beavers. Zoo director Joel Hamilton says wild beavers were once nearly extinct in the area but are coming back.

I think the beavers should live in groups almost like families and they should make a place for them where it is just the most perfect place for beavers. I think there should be a river stream with lots of trees around big or small trees. I think beavers are interesting animals because they swim and chew on trees. I wonder how bad it would hurt to be bitten by a beaver. I wonder how sharp their teeth are and what thier texture is like on their tail.

I believe that they should keep the beaver there. Beavers are amazing and shouldn't have been hunted for they're fur. You want fur? Grow your own! Anyway i think its great that they're coming back and might be come a common animal again. We could use some here in the drought there are so many dead trees. its sad...

Of course beavers are allowed to act like beavers! What else would they be? A giraffe? Even if they wouldn't, they aren't going to listen to rules made by people who destroyed their homes!

I think that wild animals should be able to stay wherever they want to, and do whatever they need to do to survive. Unless they are hurting themself or others. Beavers should be able to chew trees because its just part of the circle of life.

Beavers are very intelligent animals. They have to chew down trees to create their homes. I think it's pretty amazing how the beavers are now reappearing in the nearly extinct area.

Beavers are amazing creatures! I find it fascinating how beavers use their teeth to chew on trees to cut them down. It is just simply amazing.

I think this beaver should be able to stay in his home that he has made for himself. so thats very good that they are letting him stay.

It is just amazing what beavers can chew through! I never did know beavers really ate wood. I thought they just used it for their houses! I also never knew that beavers were going extinct in that area. I guess you learn something every day.

Why should beavers not act like beavers? They are wild animals. You can take them out wild, but you can't take the wild out of them. Leave the beaver alone and let mother nature take care of the beaver.

I like beavers. They have to chew down trees its their food I think ? Well they need beavers there. It has a right for beavers to live there and ill fight for it.
