In Australia, it's raining fish Australia has been battered by torrential rains, and there has been a report of fish falling from the sky.

The freak phenomena happened not once, but twice, on Thursday and Friday afternoon about 6pm at Lajamanu, about 550km southwest of Katherine, The Northern Territory News reports.

Christine Balmer, who took the photos of the fish on the ground and in a bucket, said she had to pinch herself when she was told "hundreds and hundreds" of small white fish had fallen from the sky.

Mrs Balmer, the aged care co-ordinator at the Lajamanu Aged Care Centre, said her family interstate thought she had lost her mind when she told them about the event.

"I haven't lost my marbles," she said, reassuring herself.

"Thank God it didn't rain crocodiles."

Weather bureau senior forecaster Ashley Patterson said the geological conditions were perfect on Friday for a tornado in the Douglas Daly region.

He said it would have been an ideal weather situation to allow the phenomena to occur - but no tornados have been reported to the authority.

"It's a very unusual event," he said.

"With an updraft, (fish and water picked up) could get up high - up to 60,000 or 70,000 feet.

I think that that's incredible! Fish raining from the sky?!?! That must've been scary to have all those fish raining. Once is rare, but twice is just stupidly rare! That must be a once or twice in a millennium thing!

Don't have to go fishing anymore lol and I bet it smelled after all the fish was falling from the sky. I'm so happy that I wasen't their I don't want to get hit by them and smell like dead fish. But where did the falling fish came from?

That's interesting, but seems a little impossible. I don't think its true it sounds ridiculous. It's definitely odd, that it's raining fish? That's just crazy!

I think it is cool. The fish fell out of the sky. I would want to see it because fish are supposed to live in water. If
I saw the fish I woud throw them back in the water.

It will be weird but it will be cool . I will get to eat a fish. i will get to use it for bait. Then I will get to catch a fish and it will be giant !

OMG!!! I never knew it could rain fish. I have heard of it raining buckets of water but never in my life have i ever seen it rain fish. I wonder what u would tell your parents if it was actually raining fish??????

WOW!!! Never new that it could rain fish thats cool if it rained fish at my house no one eats fish at my house it is nasty, I hate fish if I had to eat it, that would be so gross

sometimes i say that it's raining buckets or something like that but i never thought that it could really rain fish right out of the sky
