The art of sand

The art of sand

Versailles artist Damon Farmer, a Berea native and Berea College graduate, works on his latest sand sculpture Friday at Berea City Park as part of the city’s 4th of July Spectacular. The sculpture, which includes 20 tons of sand, commemorates the 40th anniversary of the first man to walk on the Moon. Farmer began the sculpture Wednesday and expects to finish it Saturday, after about 35 hours of carving, before the fireworks begin at the park.

that is really cool and it is HUGE. they must have a lot off free time and a lot of sand. i cant even belive that its not falling apart

it is kinda wierd how people can make so many things out of sand, clay, and mud and they can make things out of those tools look realistic

i seen somthing just like that is lexington kentucky. it pretty cool. it had all different tpyes of thing and stuff on it. Like the kentucky derby, the rupp arena, mamouth cave ?( however u say it ). Ya i wonder how sand can say like that. is there like glue to keep the sand on? idk

I wish I could actually get a single pillar of sand up. But the fact that this guy can actually carve 20 tons representing the first people on the planet to reach the moon first. All in all I think this guy has a real talent.

i think that it is so cool that this man is sculpting and creating cool things and i wish i could sculped things to because it would be so fun.

This is actually my best friends uncle. I love to see his sculptures every fourth of July. Damon's artwork is all through out berea. He painted a mural of Horses in my friend's room. He's an amazing artist, and I'm glad to see he's finally getting recognition.

This is really cool. I've always liked to look at the sand sculptures. They are really neat. And how they get the sand to stay together and stuff is really cool, too.I have only ever been to one sand art show and that was at New Jersey beach so I don't really remember it. But we do have pictures.

People who make sand castle are amazing, or even the structures they make. They are all wonderful pieces of art. The person who made that master piece was talented. He has true talent in him. :D

This is really cool! How did the sand stick together? Iwould get so bored. YThese people have a very creative mind and Damon Farmer, amazing job!!

I know! seriously! how did they get the sand to just get stuck together! its hard enough to make a sand castle that isn't that much bigger that an inch, but a bigger than life size scene? wow! i wonder how many times it fell or how many times, or how many times he had to take a break and put some lotion on his hands! :)
