Apple's iPad outsells Apple's iPhone
Apple Inc. said Monday that is has sold 1 million of its new iPad tablet computers in the month after its launch, meaning it's been selling more than twice as fast as the iPhone did when it was new.
Apple said it reached the milestone on Friday, when the new 3G model of the iPad was delivered to its first buyers. That model can access AT&T's cellular broadband network. The first models had only Wi-Fi access.
"One million iPads in 28 days — that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," said CEO Steve Jobs. Demand keeps exceeding supply for the tablet, he added.
The iPad went on sale in the U.S. on April 3. Apple has already the delayed the international launch of the device, saying sales in the U.S. were unexpectedly strong. It's planning to start taking orders for the iPad from international buyers on May 10.
Apple shares rose $5.26, or 2 percent, to close at $266.35 Monday.
The iPad is half an inch thick and has a 9.7-inch screen. The Wi-Fi-only models start at $499, and the 3G models at $629.

It's defiantly good that the iPads are selling like crazy! But 1 million of them in 28 days is a bit much... I don't own one, but my friend's mom does and she loves it. So I do see why they would sell so fast. But more than the iPhone? I mean you can't really call on the iPad. Steve Jobs was really smart to have created something incredible as this. I just hope that the iPhones keep selling.
In my defense the iphone is way better than the ipad becuase the ipad you just have a bunch of apps but with the iphone you can call people and you have a bunch of apps.
I love the ipad!! To hear how much the ipad has been selling is amazing.The apple products have been selling at least over 1,000 products a year.An ipad can do everything an iphone can do.So many people i know have an apple product.
How the Ipad is selling more then the Iphone. I think it is selling more because it is the new one. Some people just want to new ipad cause you can do everything that you do on a Iphone and you can do it all on the Ipad.
that is realty crazy because i would want an i phone because you can text off the i phone you have Internet any were you are at so its really shocking how there is more i pads sold then iphone.
its wierd how the ipad that cost more then some of the last generation iphones is selling out more then them. i would rather have the iphone because you can go on the internet with that and use it as a phone.
Why would the Ipad be more popular than the Iphone. My parents have Iphones and they love them. Ipads would be cool but they are so big. They don't fit in your pocket. Ipads are cool because you have a bigger screen for watching movies and playing games. I think that Iphones are better than ipads.
Steve jobs has done it again! he has come out with another fantastic idea that America clearly loves considering it sold its one millionth in only 28 days. I believe that Steve jobs has an inventive mind. I've always wondered how people come up with these amazing ideas. i believe Steve jobs is one of the best CEO a company could ask for
i like apple and the ipad is kind of better then the iphone ,one because the screen is bigger and two is because it can access at&t's cellular broadband network too.
i love apple products. and i think they reached this mile stone because of jobs death. and i hope that they contuine to make more.
