Anti-bully campaigns are working

Anti-bully campaigns are working There's been a sharp drop in the percentage of America's children being bullied or beaten up by their peers, according to a new national survey by experts who believe anti-bullying programs are having an impact.

The study found that the percentage of children who reported being physically bullied over the past year had dropped by one third.

But Marlene Snyder, of Clemson University's Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life, says, "The decline is not happening everywhere.. "It's in schools where adults really understand how detrimental this conduct can be and have made a conscious effort to bring these numbers down."

The researchers said the biggest declines in the various forms of violence and bullying were among children from low-income households.

"Many of the grants have been awarded to large inner-city schools where crime and violence rates had been high and economic conditions were low," she said. "We've seen that when those communities have had the money, they could be successful."

"You have to keep at it, training new teachers every year — not just training one time and you're done," she said. "I hope this progress holds because, frankly, when they have to make hard decisions, these are the kind of programs that often fall under the financial ax."

Its good that people are taking responsibility to help kids who are being harassed. No one deserves to be picked on the way that some people do.

I think it's very sad when other kids or people even old people get bullied for no darn reason. I swear they have like know reason to do that type of stuff to other I mean I understand people get pretty mad. Nowandays bullies try not to put the anger on themselves but then again putting a grudge on someone else in general other people and that is very Disrespectful. I wow don't even know how to say it. Like bullies need major MAJOR help I really hate seeing other kids teens other people getting bullied and they try not to show that it hurts them but then again deep down inside you know that that person wants to just be lfted alone. Please no bullying stop the bullying.

It is great to know that the bullying levels have dropped. It is also interesting to hear that people are funding education from grants, instead of the government. It is going to make lot of kids lives easier, and happier, with all the anti-bullying campaigns dropping the bullying rates. It's wonderful to hear that teachers are getting involved , and helping their students.

I am happy to hear that bullying rates have dropped. It also makes sense to me why students in low-income households were being bullied. Kids make fun of them for not having the things they have. Awarding grants to inner-city schools is a big step in the process of eliminating bullying among students. I feel that Marlene Snyder is right, you do have to keep at it.

There is less bullying now a days because everyone has someone in high school. All those wierd kids that you bullied or ignored in grade school went to high school and met other kids that were treated the same, and suddenley they have twenty friends. Now nobody bothers them because everyone is busy with their twenty friends, thats why bullying is disapating, at least in some cases.

yo yo yo MICKY MIKE here so no cyber bulling allright al. i have never been bullied so dont stop beliven in man!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!STOP CYBER BULLING WE CAN ALL MAKE A CHANG TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . MICKY MIKE OUT . BY BY.

It's good that bullying is going down in some schools but my brother told me that there was a fight in his school a few weeks ago. That's very sad, but a lot of kids get bullied and are bullies. :(

Just because a lot of kids are getting bullied or are bullies doesnt make it okay. In fact, it just makes it worse because the more bullies there are, the more likely they will gang up on other kids.

I think it's great that bullying is going down, but sadly it still happen's in my school this one kid in my school get's harrased by everyone and it's really annoying I mean just leave the poor kid alone

I wonder how long this program has been going on. For five years i was bullied, thankfully not physically, but verbally. People would make fun of how tall I was. Eventually, the kids in my grade started to grow, so the moved onto how my faced looked, because I have acne and I know it. Than, the found something else to make me feel sad, my last name. Nearly everyday, I would come home nearly crying or crying. So if this program started in 2004, it didn't do a good job at all. Now, from my experience with the bullies, I know what to do and now they don't bug , mess around, and make fun of me. I'm just glad I never have to see these people again next year.
