'American Idol' allows younger contestants
The next "American Idol" may not be able to drive a car.
Fox said in a statement Monday that the age eligibility to audition for the upcoming 10th season of the singing competition would be lowered from 16 to 15 years old. The maximum age to audition remains 28.
"American Idol" executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said in a statement that "a lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16."
Auditions for the next season will begin July 17 in Nashville, Tenn. Other audition cities include Milwaukee, New Orleans, San Francisco, East Rutherford, N.J., and Austin, Texas.

I think that the minimum should go to 10 years old, and the maximum should go to 30. I think this because a lot of people have talent, but American Idol is the only for singing and its not right that people can sing on America's Got Talent. America's Got Talent is for people who can do magic tricks or can flip in the air 3 times in a row. American Idol is open for anyone who can sing. So, what if you were 10 and you had the best voice? Then you couldn't really go onto American Idol. I really hope they change this soon.
younger childern wants to be singers now... an because of before they changed the age now some kids are gettin their dreams.. its a good thing now :)
They should let kids sing.Because the younger kids can have a great
start of having there dreams come true. They can also become
a star at a early age.
Comment: this is such a good thing because it gives other people a chance to show of there talent and people wouldn't say there to young to try or to succeed just yet.
Summary: American idol allows in younger contestants, they lowered the age to 15.
It was a good thing too. The younger generation blew out the competition. Scotty and Lauren are talented artists. Although, I was sad that Lauren wasn't voted American Idol I am proud of Scotty. LAUREN ALL THE WAY!
This is such a good idea. Some kids around the ages 8-14 can sing better than people in their twenty's. There should be a show like "American Idol" and "The Voice" out there for little kids. It's not fair to some kids that only adults and teenagers get famous for having a great voice. Also, what about people that can sing well in their 30's. 40's and even 50's? There are people out their that can sing no matter how old they are. But, back to American Idol. I'm really happy that they lowered the age limit.
That is good news for me that they lowered the age of how old you have to be to join American Idol. I won't have to wait as long. I'm turning fifteen next year. I'd love to join American Idol and give it a try. I love music. I've done a lot of covers of different kinds of songs. I'd love to have my voice heard. I really would love to be on American Idol and to give it a try.
That is a good thing. There are a lot of talented younger people. They shouldn't have to put their lives on hold because of an age limit.
i picked this article because, it seemed like a good idea for younger people to audition for American idol.
i thought that the maximum age limit was 28 was interesting because, it is a short span from 15 to 28, and alot of people missed their opportunity.
i would recommend this to someone else because,it was a good read about how younger people can get their chance at stardom.
That's cool that they allow younger contestants but what about the older contestant ? If they allow younger contestants they have to allow older people.
