“Midnight knitter” pulls wool over town
Someone is spinning quite a yarn over one New Jersey shore town.
An unknown person dubbed The Midnight Knitter by West Cape May residents is covering tree branches and lamp poles with little sweaters under cover of darkness.
Mayor Pam Kaithern says police are looking into the guerrilla needlework, which technically is against the law because it is being done on public property without permission.
The mayor and many residents admit they're enthralled by the rainbow of colors that has popped up.
Resident Susan Longacre takes a walk each morning in Wilbraham Park, where several tree branches and light poles have gotten the treatment. She thinks it's great.
Even those who aren't thrilled admit the yarn is better than spray-painted graffiti.

An unknown person wraps wool around tree branches in New Jersey. However this mysterious person doesn't just cover trees, they cover light posts. This person must be very passionate about knitting. Obviously some people have different opinions, but most think it's a piece of art. even those who aren't thrilled about the idea agree that it's better than spray-painted graffiti. In the meantime, police are trying to find the unknown person because it was done on public property without permission. This person probably, and hopefully, didn't mean any harm, just to express their passion. I believe that the rainbow colors are very fun and bright pus the mystery man shouldn't go to jail.
I think that would make a place look beautiful but I hate to knit so I wouldn't do it. I think I would probably get some one else to do it so i don't have to.
That's cool! I can also understand why it be illegal. It is exactly the same as graffiti except how it is done. They should make her stop it. While allowing her to do it in some certain places.
i picked this article because it seemed interesting on how a person would take the time to make sweaters for trees and lamp poles.
i thought that the person does it when no one is around is interesting because, the person that does that could have gotten credit and permission to do those things.
i would recommend this to someone else because, it would inspire them to make things in their spare time, and to do public works.
Wow, that's very cool. Well, at least its better than graffiti, and the mayor calls it 'guerrilla action' its not really that big of a deal. If its causing that big of a fuss then just remove the yarn from the tree's and street poles. This person should be rewarded for making that town more awesome and pretty looking.
A Midnight Knitter?! I hypothesize that it would be cool to have decorations everywhere, on the trees and lamp posts. But at the same time it is kind of vandalizing public property; but from the pictures in the article, I would love to visit that town before they take all of the yarn down. I wonder who did the yarn bit? It could be a group of teenagers (boys and girls) that want to pull a good prank but at the same time deep inside they also want to make the town inside look nice. When the police find and ask the people responsible for the yarn, "What were you thinking?" they probably wouldn't say, "I thought it would be pretty," but deep inside they probably think so.
This is a pretty weird way to vandelize a town in any way but if they are wondering what"s happening and who's doing it, they should put 24 hour cameras around the city people can't see and take picturess of what happens at night and the problem would maybe stop.
First of all why would someone do that? That is against the law. That is technically called graffiti. Whoever is doing this is in serious trouble with now way out.
one idea I would tell about midnight knitter is that they will arrestthe preson who kmitted .i would tell this because its super dumb to arrest someone for that.another idea would be that it is pretty cool that he's knitting like that .iwould tell this because because atleast someone thinks its great.
In New Jersey, a person known only as" the Midnight Knitter" has been knitting trees and lamposts during the nightime. This type of knitting is called guerilla needle work and is against the law. This is against the law because thre is no permission to have this vandilizom on public property.
